Looking for a 1 or 2 year old wagon.

Currently favouring a Hyundai Elantra Touring.

Is this the best in class for the price or would you go for another option?

Thanks

It's roomy, descent on power, nicely equipped, the materials are soft touch and the trunk is huge for its price. I'd say go for it if you want that kind of versatility.

Better act fast though, it will be replaced by the new Elantra GT in the summer.

I have one. First year it came out. 2009. Been good to us. Nothing but regular maintenance except for just recently one of the windows won't go down. It is under warranty still, so no big deal.

Really? Why are they replacing it? Was it not a good seller? I see all kinds of them around.

The European i30 lineup where the Touring was based (i30 Estate) was redesigned for 2012. Only for the hatchback though (which they're bringing over to replace the Touring). The Estate/ wagon in Europe was discontinued for 2012.. But they're planning for one next year. There's no word that it's coming to NA though.

I would also recommend waiting for the new oen that will be coming out. Its alot more attractive than the current one, and will likely be even better value for money.

+1

It will also have much better fuel economy: EPA est. MPG of 28 city/ 39 highway vs current model's 23 city / 31 highway.

The Touring is the only wagon in its class.

I am not really looking for a brand-new car (unless an amazing deal is offered) therefore the fact that it is being replaced won't impact me too much.

I am surprised that it has no competition - there used to be the Ford Focus wagon but that was replaced some years ago. Obviously noone (but me) likes wagons

A new model should result in lower prices for the previous generation model(s).

A salesperson from Ford told me something like 30% of the Focuses sold in Canada were wagons (when they were available).

The problem is that wagons don't sell in the States (same with hatchbacks). Canada seems to usually like wagons and hatchbacks a fair bit, though.

I like them too. I actually do not look at it as a wagon though. Just a hatchback as a wagon is typically longer. The replacement does not look like it has anywhere near the cargo space the Touring has.
