Not too much information on their website. Went today to their Scarborough branch about PSW diploma, won't tell me definite dates for each module, which days exactly either - for next term. They're at 1265 Morningside just north of Shepperd.

Told me the course is 3 months long with placement to do real work in nursing homes, cost is $3600, must buy own textbooks.

Website is www.evergreen.ca and they have classes in Scarborough, Toronto and Mississauga. Offices seemed quite deserted today. Anyone go there, heard anything about them?

I hope you know that "work in nursing home" isn't the same as "nursing work in a nursing home". I would be weary if you think thats what it means. There are hundreds to thousands of students that matriculate from 4 year nursing degrees from university.

places like these always sound like a scam to me...what was the other one called? CDI College?

There are nursing homes (registered and regulated with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care), and then there are retirement homes (private homes). If you are a PSW, you are likely going to be working in a retirement home (although this is not definite).

Sounds like one of those for-profit colleges. I would avoid it at all costs.

You can't be properly qualified after three months of training. I don't care how quick a person is at learning new information and whatnot, too many corners have to be cut to put all of that into three months. Especially in a long term care facility, where you are dealing with the health and comfort of human beings. I don't buy it.
