Guys,
Anyone had experience in using reverse camera in G test? Sure I know the examiner expects one to do the basics one turning head checking mirrors and not just looking at the camera but the question is can we just leave it ON or I must turn it off?

Cheers and thanks for your help.

Why don't you get someone to do the test for you?

This is a stupid question. Do you want to fail your G test? Follow the rules by the book.

You should use it.
If your car has launch control, use it on every stop sign/red light also.

Make sure you also get one of those cars that does automatic parallel parking. 100% perfect parking every time!

^ Wave your hands really fast over the steering wheel to pretend you're the one driving.

When I took my test years and years ago, I asked the examiner about my backup sensors. He said if your car has it, might as well use it.

Believe it says in the rules you can't use it. They wanna test how you can maintain consistent speeds lololol

Yeah sounds like it would be against the rules... if you're going to use a camera might as well just lean over and ask the instructor 'how far do I have?'

Backup sensors I can see, cause all they do is warn you of the proximity of objects, its still up to you to determine how to park from there.

So many silly driving test questions lately...

Although sensors are different than a backup camera I would say at the very least it is examiner specific and more likely imo not allowed on your test. I would think it is not allowed on your test because you are being tested to make sure you are capable of driving any G class vehicle and not all G class vehicles have backup monitors installed on them.

If I have an examiner sitting in my car at all times I know I am going to lose my license even I am a professional... Any examiner can pick apart your driving and fail you everytime! So good luck and it is a fact that the examiner is subjective! So if you think the examiner is ok with a backup cam go for it!

Common sense says, if you have a backup camera don't bloody stare at it all the time and follow what your instructor taught you to do (look over your shoulder). Same goes for lane change sensors, those new automatic parking gizmos etc etc.

Congrats on passing.

If you know there are problems with your driving, please correct them, instructor or not. After all, you keep telling us how you're "a professional" in control of a gigantic potential killing machine. Drivers of smaller vehicles should work to improve their skills too. Lives depend on it.

So I suppose you have already perfected your driving skills so any subjective instructor won't be able to find anything wrong? :-0

I try, as every driver should. I've never caused an accident, and I still follow the techniques I learned from a professional driving instructor, so I think it's fair to say I'm doing a good job. How about yourself?

Likewise.

However, good safe driving isn't exactly the same thing as the following fancy ritual of taking G exam, don't you think?

Simple example: when I was taking my G exam, my inspector was so suffering from something looking pretty similar to hangover so he could barely rise his eyes for quick look on me or around. Despite it was a G test, AFAIR there was no highway, only G2 stuff.
He marked some minor mistakes that I did not do, and possibly did not mark other ones that I could have done.
But as far as the overall mark was "Passed" I have nothing against him :)

But since than I strongly believe - it is up to inspector to let you drive or walk, and actual good driving skills won't be a guarantee for passing the exam if the inspector wants to let you down.
