If you are convicted of an offense, do you have to inform your insurance company according to the legal policy agreement?

If I need to make a claim, and my insurance company then finds out I have a ticket conviction I didn't tell them about....can they refuse to cover me and the claim?

Any links or evidence to support that? I know generally insurance companies try to find something to "null and void the policy" when making a claim.

Potentially yes, it will be considered material misrepresentation.

This is a good question. I know you have to inform them when applying for a policy and I know they're supposed to run your driver abstract on renewals so they'd know but what about mid-term?

Maybe one of our insurance employees can chime in here.
