Decent GPU is about all it's got going for it. Warmish at best -- no HD display?
Maybe I'm picky but I wouldn't touch a 15.6" laptop if it didn't have higher res.

I'm in the market for a laptop right now. During my exhaustive searches (at least at all the big box stores), I have yet to see a 15.6" laptop with any other resolution. Thinking of getting the 570 from BestBuy later today actually. But the one there doesn't have the GPU and it's on sale for $649.99... OP, got a link to this one you're talking about?

Wait for Dell, HP, or Lenovo sales. Try for a 1600x900 resolution.
For most people, an i5 is probably good enough.
I'd rather spend a little more and buy something I'm going to use everyday than to try to save a few bucks and end up with a product that I'm not fond of.
Myself, I get all my laptops from US. Refurb and Scratch & Dent XPS 14z and 15z for under $700.

i purchased a Y570 last Aug (almost same specs except it's i3-2310m and 4gb RAM).
great laptop for the price. quiet, stays cool, decent build quality, nice sound.
i just wasn't a fan of the trackpad buttons (trackpad itself is good), the max resolution and the GT555M is a gimped version but should be able to run most games on med. settings.

so, yeah. i've had it for a year but looking to upgrade to a real gamer laptop with a 7970m and selling this one. nothing against Lenovo or this laptop, just the gamer in me needs a more powerful rig :D
