Hi,

MPA programs are all over the country. I noticed that many people who got their MPA degree in Ontario (at queens, carleton, ryerson, uoft, etc.) work for the Ontario government and the cities located in Ontario. People who got their MPA degree in Manitoba (university of manitoba) would work for the Manitoba government, or Winnipeg government. You know, generally they would be working for the same province they obtained their degree in.

I intend on working for the Ontario government (at the provincial level, if not, then Toronto at the local level). But the competition in Ontario is quite fierce...I might just have an easier chance if I go to Manitoba or Saskatchewan (university of regina).

In case you are wondering, my cgpa will be B+ (75-79%). My 3rd year is an A (80-89%) and I hope to maintain it in 4th year, making my final 2 years an A. I go to York, so I provided the grade scale.

So my question is:
- Would you think it'd matter that I get a MPA degree at a province other than Ontario if I want to work within and for Ontario?

Thanks in advance!

good question. Its probably because after people graduate from x school , individuals would rather work in that area rather than somewhere far. If i were you, I would contact both HR departments to see if they prefer graduates who study in the area. Mostly likely not.
