Taxi would be at least $50 just to go one way.

Driving there via the 401 would be the fastest.

I did it and I actually quit the job I had due to the commute. The drive is horrible espically when it rains.

If you can afford it (like about $200/mth) then take the 407, and exit Mississauga Rd. Argentia is like 2 minutes from the 407 on Miss Rd. Your whole commute would be about 20-30 minutes one way. Otherwise you're looking at a one hour commute (at least) down the 401, one way.

Finch and McCowan is not even close to 407 neither.
Seriously OP, I would not take the job just for the commute. Even more nightmare if you don't want to drive.
Imagine you are spending over 3 to 4 hrs commute for a 7.5 hr job.
Unless you planning to move over once the job settled.

I just took a quick look at google maps, and Finch on McCowan is about half way between the 407 and the 401.
Either way, OP should probably move. Who wants to live in Scarborough anyways

I travel from Finch/McCowan to 401 and Hwy 427 area every day and it takes me about 45 mins in the morning (I leave around 645) and about 50 mins (I leave around 545) on the way home. I take highway 401 all the way through on the express.

OP there are few people who will drive to Mississauga from Scarborough and they take passengers like a taxi.
Its not cheap but almost like paying for TTC everyday. Search the internet for their ads.
Caution: most are Chinese drivers. And only problem is you have to be in car a bit long till he "rounds Up" his "passengers".
Almost all are people you will see everyday. There are many ladies also use this "service".
Never heard of any accident in last 3-1/2 years.

If you can get to the Finch Go Bus terminal at Finch and Yonge, you could take the Milton/North York Go Bus (Route 27) - it goes from the Finch Go Bus Terminal to Mississauga Road/Erin Mills or the Meadowvale Go Statation in roughly 45 minutes. You'd have to take transit or walk to Mississauga Road/Argentia depending on where the company is located.

Any public transit system would take about 90minutes each way. Cabbing it will be expensive as shiiiit.
If you drive - get a transponder and take the ETR.
It would only cost $75-100/month if you have a transponder. And it'll save you A LOT of time
If you don't drive - take a stroll over to Woodside Mall - an ask one of the cabbies for a weekly flat rate. To pick up - drop off to and from work.

90 minutes? Are you sure? Have you traveled? Because I have and it takes way longer than that.

I don't understand how people are saying the 407 will only cost $100-200....i used to take it from Mississauga Road to the 400 every day and it cost about $200/month with a transponder.
I ran the numbers in the 407 calculator - get on at McCowan, exit at Mississauga Road with a transponder....total cost one way during 7 - 9 am....$13.44
$13.44/trip x 2 x 5 = $134/week
So much misinformation.

I used to take the TTC from Morningside and Finch out to Square1 and it took about 1.5 hrs each way.

Holy bajeezus! OK edit my info - My ETR was on a corporate plan and its been 7 years since I worked for that company. So my $#'s are off
I ran ETR daily from Markham Rd to 400 and it was $3 and change each way. Even with Runs to Niagara Falls etc it was under $100/month.

The next question how does one become eligible for a corporate account 407

I didn't know of any 407 corporate plan. You people are dreaming if you think you can get by on $100 a month on 407 doing that route. It will be over $400 easily..
Either way, OP should probably move. Who wants to live in Scarborough anyways
Lol. I think it's the opposite. There is a reason why traffic is bad WB on the 401 in the morning... ;)

I live at McCowan/Finch and work at Mississauga Rd/407 and I take the 407 every day for work. I work 8:30am to 4:30pm
Gas is around $15 a day (Mazda 3)
407 bill around $550 a month with transponder
Commute time - 55min each way
Transit time would take 2-3hrs.

OP, just go to finch station, catch the 630AM Milton bus to Mississauga Rd / Erin Mills which arrives at 7:15 and walk to Argentina, which is like 3 minutes.
The 710 bus arrives at 802 so that won't work for you.

or easier...
find carpool at your company.
I used to ride with my co-workers from Brimley Steeles to Derry/ Mississauga
Took around... 30 minute to get there on the 407?
I chipped in 5$ a day.
hella cheaper, hella quicker.
Just commute for the first several days of the job,
and look for people to carpool within the first week or something.

Yowza, a ~$600/month 407 bill, not to mention the cost of fuel! Hope your company foots the bill or you make a lot of money!

Finch and McCowan is not even close to 407 neither.
It is very close. Only 2 major blocks away. Steeles and 14th.

+1 $550 407 bill Plus $15 a day for gas just to get you to work is insane. You sure you cant find any other job that's closer?
Carpool is good, but nothing guarantee. You still have to rely to that person to get you to work.
It's just a nightmare, unless you work night shift, then you can drive along 401 without traffic.

Based on this alone, if the OP does not have family/kids and is just living at home etc. it might make more sense to just rent somewhere inexpensive nearby and avoid the hassle with time/driving/gas.
