I would like to know how is Big Yellow Bag of Black Garden soil that is delivered to your driveway. I would be getting the lawn aerated today and then want to spread the Black Garden Soil mixed with grass seeds. Also would like to know since it is already end of May, is it worth a shot of doing this.

black soil has not nutrients like triple mix, so adding it to your lawn with seed wont' do much. best to use to fill in, or stick with triple mix. it doesn't hold water very well as well.
you don't need soil to reseed...just make sure you water/roll your lawn after you seed so the seed is down and contact with the existing soil, and then ensure it's kept moist thereafter to grow. moist, not puddling like you would a normal lawn. once they start sprouting, pull back on the # of days you water, and extend the time so that eventually you are watering 1" per week, possibly more in drought times...
also make sure you use the right seed. ie: don't use sun seed in full-day shade areas, etc.
shade see with grown in shade or sun, but i think it's a bit more hardy for that reason...

Thanks for your response.
Description of Black Garden soil says it has Black loam, peat loam, well composted manure and a touch of mineral soil for stability. Is it same as triple mix?
