I purchased one of these no-name energy efficient units at Rona about 4 years ago for a reasonable price of $139, holding 18 bottles.

It runs quiet and assume consumes little electricity.

The only problem is that the parts wear out continuously. The aluminum, and fan and especially the ceramic piece, it has been changed at least 3 times.

A recent call to customer service, the technician revealed that these parts only last about 18 months, and he quoted it like normal wear like the brakes on a car.
I jut think its planned obsolescence.

Well, with all these new parts and the costs adding up, are there any thermoelectric units on the market that aren't a maintenance pain in the ***** ?

I got some year 2000 St-Etienne quality Bordeaux vintage to keep chilled.
