Can I place these 15" pendants over my 5 ft island when my ceiling are 8 ft high?? I worried that not enough stem will show and look funny

Thanks

The decorative bulb housing is 15 inches but the Rod/Drop/Cable Length is 48 inches. That is up to 4 ft of drop if you need it. Is that not more than enough?

Thanks for your reply.

We thought after cutting the stem as it would be too low that there would hardly be any stem left as I have heard
the bottom of the pendant should ne around 66 " from floor.

Thanks

I think what's being asked is, since the ceiling isn't high, the stem will be cut fairly short, possibly a foot or so long.... and if the SHORT stem would look funny.

Using the 48" stem would have the light laying on the island...........

How high is the island?

Hi

thanks, that is what I was asking.

The island is 36" high

The general rule of thumb is that a light fixture should hang 30 to 36" from countertop to bottom of fixture. If you go 30" you'll be left with 15" of stem (96-36-30-15=15). That's a 1:1 ratio of stem vs. pendant height. I can picture that looking a tad awkward. You should consider using smaller pendants.

Thank you

Si98 may very well be right, but how it looks will also depend on the specific fixture and the room it's in. If you've purchased it already, hold it up where it will be hung and take a look at it. If you like it, it doesn't matter what norm is when it comes to hanging fixtures. All that matters is you like how it looks.
