Has anyone dealt with Erinwood Ford in Mississauga. We have an older car that we just want to get rid of, maybe get decent money for it if possible. I understand they buy from public even if you don't buy from them. Has anyone sold them a car?
Thanks

I bought my truck from them.

Their pricing on new vehicles is super competitve, but I doubt you're gonna get anywhere near top dollar from them for your old car if you're not buying anything from them.

Erinwood does buy cars from the public, but so do we (Mississauga Honda.) Erinwood has made this a major promotion of theirs. I would visit a few dealers in the mall to get an idea. In most cases you will get more money selling private though. The question is how much more and with how much hassle. Some people would rather do it themselves and pocket an extra $100, whereas others would like to avoid the aggravation and are willing to take $2000 less for the car. It is up to you.

If your car really is "older" then I wouldn't waste my time going out to see them. Their radio ads about buying your car from you are just a gimmick just like those real estate brokers that say they'll buy your house from you if they can't sell it. They'll offer to buy it from you (car or house) at a very low price.

I went to Erinwood a few years ago lured by their ad. I was selling a 10 yr old vehicle with low mileage, no rust, etc. After asking me what it was they offered $500 and wouldn't even look at the vehicle. I ended up selling to a small used car dealer for $1000 and probably could have sold it privately myself for about $2000.

Older vehicles are worthless to new car dealers as they are just middlemen who will move the product to other used car dealers. For used cars, new car dealers are more generally more interested in late model vehicles.

thank you for your input. The car is 12 years old and it needs some work. I'll try selling it privately.

OP, I just sold my POS broken car privately. Really not too difficult and rewarding!

Auction! Especially if you're not 100% it's in good shape and nothing major wrong with it.

If you go to buy or sell a used car at Erinwood Ford they might send you to another place called Automall Clearence Center which is owned by the dealership.

http://automallclearancecenter.com/

The inventory is the same as Erinwood Ford....

I experiened this when looking for a cheap used car with a family member. First went to Erinwood and asked to see the car and they told us it was at the Automall Clearance.

We went there and test drove the car but did not end up buying it. The sales guy was a very young guy who said they would not negotiate their prices. We ended up buying a car somewhere else.
