Hey everyone, I just bought the ikea besta entertainment unit and have all my a/v boxes hidden in the cabinets (cable box, dvd player, etc...). I would like to control the units without opening the cabinet doors all the time.
I thought it would be easy to find IR extenders/receivers but I am having a hard time. Does anyone have experience with controlling your cable box, dvd players inside a cabinet?

I found a few units, but people have reported issues with the SA 8300HD cable box since its a dual band. The best I could find was "Hot Link Pro". Anyone have experience with this unit?

Any other suggestions on a unit which can be used on the 8300 and a dvd player?

yes and IR extender will work.

something like this, but don't buy the Monoprice one, it sucks. Mount this somewhere that is visible.

Plug the 3.5mm jack in the back of the 8300 where it says IR. Picture below #9.

What DVD model do you have? not all electronics support an IR input.

I have used both ways of controlling the 8300. But prefer the Harmony with the RF module which does the trick since it's totally in the wrong part of the room.
