Hello All,

I'm looking to buy two laptops (identical is fine) for my parents and would like some recommendations. I don't have a brand preference but durability is the main concern. The computers will be used for typical email, browsing and youtube use. I'd like the screens, and input methods to be of high quality. I think The screen is pretty much the most important thing before everything else for my parents.

Requirements
--13.3-14.4"
--good trackpad
--IPS display or a very good TN display
-- Windows 7 or 8
-- Budget around $800-$900 taxes in

Thanks

Any laptop with W7 that is from a creditable retail is eligible for W8 Pro upgrade for $15. (http://windowsupgradeoffer.com/en-US/)

The Lenovo T430 can be customized with a really good 1600x900 screen, probably the best laptop that can fill those requirements: http://shoplenovo.i2.com/SEUILibrary/controller/e/ibmeppfriendca/StdAffinityPortal/en_CA/Lenovo:EnterStdAffinity?affinity=ibmeppfriendca&passcode=FNDEPP

In my search lenovo is what i was leaning towards too, and dell was second. As far as the T430 is concerned do you think the extra $70 to upgrade to I5 is worth it? or should I go with I3 and just upgrade the screen?

thanks

The i3 should be plenty for what they are going to use it for...the upgrade to a better screen is much more worth it. The only reason I would go with the i5 is that it is an Ivy Bridge cpu vs the i3 being Sandy Bridge.

Ok a few more questions for the following free "upgrades"

1. 65W or 90W AC adapter, If weight is not a concern for them then 90W right?

2. Wireless card: ThinkPad 1x1 b/g/n OR Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2200 (2x2 BGN)
