I have an old Bold 9000 that is starting to die on me. I have the option to upgrade with Rogers (I'm looking for a Bold) which has a 3 year plan if I want a subsidized device (Bold 9790 - $75 or 9900 for $130). I'm looking at the 9790. The other option is to buy a used one off of Kijiji or something but most of them are older - for example there's the 9700 for $140. I hate giving Rogers anymore business then I have to and being at their mercy through the contract but I figured at least I'll get a brand new phone - btw are the phones under warranty in case there's something wrong with them?

Buying used as its advantages and disadvantages as well - if there's anything wrong with it, I'm stuck with it.

Looking for suggestions/opinions please

Most new phones have a warranty of 1year unless you purchase an additional device protection plan....

If you were to buy used, I would suggest you check the BST: Cellphone sub-forum on RFD....you can pick up older phones at better prices than on Kijiji or CL...

A BB9700 for $140 is too high..even if it was BNIB....

I personally would get a new one....at least the device has 1yr warranty and it hasn't been used by someone else....I am a germphobe though...

Another option is to keep your eye open for sales on compatible phones on Newegg etc...

I bought a BNIB Nokia E63 unlocked a couple of years back for under $200 all-in outright...no contract...

Hmmm the phones on newegg.ca are absolutely outrageous! $900 for a 9900?? I really don't want to buy through Rogers because they're charging $130 for a 9900 on a 3 year contract - Bell is offering it for $0 on a 3 year contract and Rogers refuses to match. I see the 9900 for $300-400 on Kijiji which I also don't want to pay...running out of option haha
