Check to see if there is a recovery utility included in the gateway software that is bundle on the machine. Usually, there is. Just run the recovery utility and follow the prompts. A hidden partition on the hard drive contains all the files to put your machine back to what it looked like when it was unboxed. It should be something like this.

Or you can just download a trial version of Windows 7 and install on your drive. If you laptop can take vista then win7 32 bit should have all the necessary drivers. Worry about the license in 30 days.

Thanks Will888 - your suggestion is helping me, too. Thanked.

P.S. I don't know if Dell laptops will have the same recovery feature ?

If you don't want to deal with cracks or trials for the time being, download and install the Windows 8 release candidate. It lasts until January.

Don't use cracked or torrented versio.s of windows... Use official downloadable ISOs ....

There's nothing wrong with torrenting. People actually distribute the legit copy of windows solely for the speed since torrenting distributes information so efficiently.

Search for the windows [insert edition here] torrent and carefully select the proper distribution. The hash should match up with the one stated on the Microsoft site.
