I don't usually buy nuts other than almonds. But I want to start incorporating other nuts into my granola. Is Costco the cheapest place to get almonds, walnuts and pecans? Is there anywhere else in Vaughan/Richmond Hill/Markham that sells shelled, raw nuts at a good price?

Thanks.

I do not know if Costco prices are the best for nuts but I know they are the freshest, best tasting I have ever bought. My guess is because the turn over is so fast. Not worth buying nuts any where else.

Cheapest I've ever found, and as mentioned, the best tasting. They're also large size specimens.

I find that T&T is pretty decent for almonds when they're on sale.

+1 I buy my nuts at Costco, and I think the price can't be beat. I buy the same nuts as you OP. The almonds are $10 for 3 pounds. The cheapest I've seen almonds elsewhere is $2.99 a pound, and they aren't large, whole and sweet as Costco's. The pecans are very cheap at Costco when compared with other retailers. The walnuts are large, sweet, whole and uniform. I hate when you get nuts from some other places and the walnut pieces are more like chopped, or the almonds are oddly shaped or broken. I also recommend the pine nuts and the hazelnuts.

Same as all the above. Best we've found is costco for price and quality. we buy 1-2 bags of almonds per week for eating ad making almond butter. Also buy walnuts regularly there. No comparison when you compare to bulk food places, they taste really stale by comparison, not to mention the bulk food places are usually more $$ anyways.

Costco is the only place I buy almonds and pecans. As others have said, they are fresh and they remain that way for a long time. The salted snack nuts ie, cashews and mixed nuts, are really good too.

The unsealed mixed nuts they have (can't remember the name) are amazing too. Loaded with cashews. Delicious. We don't buy it often anymore because we couldn't stop eating it. You just reminded me of that.

I guess its unanimous, then :) I'll stock up at Costco and not waste time shopping around.

I've tried buying almonds when they go on sale elsewhere but the nuts aren't as tasty, fresh as the ones form Costco. The last bag I got at No Frills ended up being a bunch of small, shriveled almonds.

I did this comparison last year because my Costco membership expired around Christmas. Wanting to make my yearly holiday nuts, I needed pecans, walnuts, almonds, etc. I went to bulk barn and it cost me $25 for roughly 2.5 pounds of mixed nuts, I couldn't believe it. Like others said, Costco's nuts are better tasting and larger. When I need to buy nuts again, I'll be renewing my membership just for the nuts:)

Does Costco no longer sell bags of sliced almonds? I've looked for them at the Richmond Hill and Vaughan locations a few times and can't seem to find them any more.

I was at the Vaughan location a month ago and saw them then.

I was looking for the Natursource tamari almonds. Anyone saw those recently?

The tamari almonds are still around - both Woodbridge and Markham (Woodbine) locations had them.

I agree with everyone. If they aren't the cheapest, they are at least equal to the cheapest out there AND more importantly, the freshest. I love walnuts and have bought them everywhere and Costco's are by far and away the tastiest and most consistent.

Now if they would only carry macadamia's.... :(

I've seen Mauna Loa displays in both Markham(woodbine/7) and Richmond Hill lately.

I'll be a bit of a contrarian and say that Johnvince's prices are usually a bit better. However, I don't trust their quality as much, so I prefer to pay a tiny premium @ Costco.

Thanks. None was there when I last went a month ago. Thought they stopped carrying them. Good to know.

Costco has the cheapest price on yogurt also, especially Liberte and their containers for Liberte are 1000 not 650 ml. Also cheapest prices for spices and cheeses.
Where else can you buy a large hot dog and pop for $1.50( same price as when they started)? Also great prices on cereal.

A second option maybe Persian stores in Richmond Hill. Any recommendations?
