Asus is top rated among laptops. This one is good for general purpose and some light gaming. $479 is a good price for this Asus. It's loaded with RAM (8 GB) and has a big HDD. I would assume that it has all the connectors like HDMI (USB3?) that you need....it wouldn't list the specs for me when I clicked on the tab.

The graphics won't be stunning....it won't play the newest games in high (not sure even in med). But it's better than Intel HD 3000 graphics which is common on the second gen i3 and i5 (and i7) based laptops. You probably would have spend another $100-$150 for a laptop that is better for gaming.

$549 for this Asus with the same A6, but with better/moderate gaming graphics 7670G: http://www.staples.ca/ENG/Catalog/cat_sku.asp?CatIds=66%2C67,3205&webid=726133&affixedcode=WW

$425 for this Acer with the slightly faster A8....Acer brand among the less reliable laptop brands however: http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=64514&vpn=LX%2ERNW02%2E028&manufacture=Acer&promoid=1387

Buy it from ANYONE BUT FS/BB/Staples as they don't usually carry the Asus Warranty.
Asus (ALL A1/B1 and most others) (Machines bought at BestBuy / FutureShop / TigerDirect / Staples have the store warranty, and NOT Asus' warranty, this is at the STORES demand, so they can sell their own crappy warranty, and NOT an Asus issue.)
COST: $0.00

Allan, ive opened up a lot of Asus's from BB before..the sticker on the box and the laptop says 1 year global warranty + 1 year accidental damage warranty. Plus there is a sheet of paper inside talking about the warranty.

If they are Bxxx or BBX or BBK or similar they have 1 yr part/labour and BB will try to 'upsell' their warranty.
It appears that Asus is pushing back, and some of the new stuff has Asus's warranty instead of BB/FS's.

THIS Asus G53SX (http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/asus-asus-rog-15-6-laptop-featuring-intel-core-i7-2670qm-quad-core-processor-g53sx-bs71-cbil-black-g53sx-bs71-cbil/10194956.aspx?path=49994b9e6b3ff18bbc355c6617ee66e ben02) for example, is 1 year p/l.
