I got an install quote for a new AC for my 2000 square foot home. $1700 for a Rheem 2 tonne system. Is this competitive? I think it is judging by the other AC threads on RFD. However I didnt find any info on the Rheem name brand. Could someone let me know if I'm getting a good deal? I'm in the GTA by the way.
Thanks
I asked a friend about the price and he said I should check whether the ac unit is uses the old or new freon. Does this make sense?

Bump. I'm trying to make a decision in the next 2 days. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks!

I would consider going with an American Standard unit instead. We were a Rheem dealer before. American Standard just got rated #1 but consumer reports!

I'd get 2.5 tonne for a 2 floor + basement house that size.

I have paid extra for name brand in my case Lennox, but Carrier or American Standard would have been the next best choice. I haven't heard anything bad about American Standard A/C units.
