Hello, I need a plane for work that I will be using during the day with some long distance (within Canada) and some data. Any suggestions on who might have the best pricing? I would "guess" I would be using more than 300 + min.
Thank you

Another good option - Thank you.
Does anyone have experience for koodo vs. chatr?
Thanks again!

The nice thing about Koodo is there are no Canadian LD charges as all Koodo calls are Canada wide...They are owned by Telus and use Telus towers

I got a question that I would like to ask as well.
Other than Wind, Mobilicity, Chatr, are there any plans with other companies where there are no roaming charges, long distant charges as long as you are in Canada? Data package would definitely be a bonus.
I used to have a plan like that with Fido Retentions but I had to cancel it while I was travelling out of the country, now I can't get it anymore.

Only Koodo and Virgin aside from AWS networks and Chatr

Virgin and Kodoo would be your best bet.

So those Koodo and Virgin plans which are Canada Wide have no roaming, even though if you are not in your local calling area? Say if you have a Toronto number and you are in Alberta, still no extra charges?
On their website it just says Canada wide but doesn't mention about roaming.
Thanks for the responses anyway guys.

You can use your 905/416 in Vancouver, call back to TO with no LD charges
Ok people need to understand there IS a difference between ROAMING AND LONG DISTANCE! & I dont know why a lot of consumers confuse the 2.
The website doesn't have information on Canadian Roaming because it doesn't exist.
You leave Canada, you are Roaming. You will pay for every text, phone call and KB that gets pushed to your phone. So turn off that data and keep your calling and texting to a min unless you want to come home to a nice $1,000 bill!

I was mentioning about this is because I used to have Fido previously with which I travel outside my city, even though if I am in the country, I get charged extra because I am not in the local calling area. Does that mean that is just called long distance? I think it still exists with most phone companies like Rogers, Fido and Bell.

It is just long distance.... as the last poster mentioned all calls are considered local with Koodo... No matter where in Canada you are... There are no Ld charges

Yes, is only Koodo, Virgin, Chatr and AWS that offer Canada wide calling as a standard feature.
It really depends on your needs and what you are willing to compromise on.
Let me break it down as simple as possible
Chatr
+Go with them if you only care about talk&text (unlimited nationwide)
-Zone restricted
-100mb of data will get you no where especially on an iphone
-iPhone has to be bought outright
Koodo = Virgin
Plans are essentially the same, minor differences at every price level.
If you require 300+ min during the day, then you have to go unlimited canada wide, which is a $50 plan. (unless you can live with 200/250 + Unlimited incoming + 5PM)
+ Virgin does offer a 10% monthly discount on the plan if you go Month2Month
+ No Zones
- Still requires the phone be bough outright
- No data plan included with the $50
- For data, you can go on the flex or 2GB for $25
- You honestly might not see the value in paying $80/month
AWS
Go roll the dice with their service, and if you travel to rural/non-covered areas, that $40 unlimited package bill will go up.
-No iPhone here

Thanks for the very detailed post. To be more specific, I just moved to Montreal, so will have to get a connection here, I do not have one currently. However I do have an international version of the HTC One X, obviously unlocked.
Here are my basic requirements, I use my phone a lot, conversations mostly with few friends from other cities. I do visit Toronto atleast once a month, may be twice for the weekends. So I would prefer to have a no zoned calling, or no long distance charges as you say.
Also, I definitely need data, not sure how much my usage would be because I haven't used the cell phone in a while but I do lots of browsing, don't watch much videos, may be listen to online radio like Tune-in. I'm guessing 1GB of data would be required?
Other than all these I do quite some calling to USA but I guess I can use phone cards if it is too expensive to include that in my plan.
When I think about all this, I really do miss that unlimited Fido plan, unlimited North America calls and texts with the flex data pack :(

-For the USA calling, If you spend more than $15 with of phone cards a month then you can go on Virgin's $65 plan which will give you Unlimited Canadian and USA calling (Calls made from Canada to the USA), along with Unlimited international Text.
- Again no data included but you can get a flex package.

I would suggest:
$50 Unlimited Canada Wide Plan
- 10% ($45 Total)
$5 VM + CID
$20 1GB
~70 + Tax

Where do you see the $50 plan? I can't find it.
As for the flex data options, could you provide me a link for the flex charges as well.
I really appreciate your help here, thanks again.

Sorry buddy, I was going to ask you about the $65 plan, typed it wrong. I do see the $50 plan but not the $65 unlimited North America. Unless you are talking about the $50 plan + Add ons for the $20.
Is there a direct $65 plan that includes everything other than data?

the $65 comprises of the $35 Unlimited Local + $30 Unlimited Canadian & US Longdistance

Not sure this will help you as you need more LD than me, but I ended up going with Rogers. The CS rep had to transfer me to another rep after I asked them to match the Koodo pricing (I had a few months on remaining on my rogers contract). I ended up with a plan that includes unlimited local calling anytime, 500 LD min (could have made it to 1000 LD for I think $5 more), vm, cid etc + a 1 gig data plan for $66ish dollars + tax.

One you start adding on options like data, you might want to consider a BUS PLAN from telus:
.... and they still might have the $400 port-in credit which reduces the price by ~$11/mo ($400/36)... plus you can pick a phone at a subsidized price.
Business Share 80
$80 monthly fee
600 non-shareable minutes
Unlimited incoming calling
Unlimited mobile to mobile calling under the same account
Unlimited Canadian text
6 pm local evening & weekend
Caller ID, Voice Mail 10, Call Waiting, Conference Calling
Can to Can/U.S. included
6 GB data in Canada
I was at Rogers last week and they also have a Canada Wide plan with more minutes than you can use for around $85. (I think their port-in offer was $200?)
