Hi.

I recently finished my first year at Western (degree in psychology) and I'm trying to decide on some courses to take in second year.

I need to pick one course out of the following three:
1. psych 2134: psycholinguistics
2. psych 2210: animal cognition
3. psych 2115: sensation and perception

I also need to pick one course out of the following three:
1. psych 2301: intro to clinical psych (I heard that 2301 is quite easy but has extremely dry content, so I'm not sure if it's worth it.)
2. psych 2720: group interaction, attitudes, experiments, etc.
3. psych 2660: organizational and industrial psych

I want a course that is either really captivating or a course that I can use to pull up my GPA; what are you thoughts?

Thank you so much in advance! (:

I don't know about the other courses, but I know someone who took organizational psych and said it was really hard.

I/O psych is doable. It was work but I still finished with a high mark. The short answers is what trips people. The first exam average was in the low 60s, with the short answer component average being 59-60.

Dr. Allen is wonderful though. Excellent teacher.

I always take psych courses whenever I can to lighten the load from my core science classes. If you're looking for the easiest class out of the second group of three, go with social psych (psych 2720). It's actually jokes.... I finished that shizz with a 95. If you put time into the readings it is actually a breeze.

Psych 2115 is terrible depending on your prof. I think it was Lupker but essentially you have 3 midterms short answers and final exam is short answer too.

Psych 2720 is a good course and you should take it. it's pretty simple and easy to do well in

psych 2660 is slightly harder than 2720 but definitely not a bad course. I would recommend it too.. haha I think I even have the textbook for it for resell..

Drugs & Behavior - Psych 2020

Went to one class, which served to determine that I did not need to go to any more classes. Teacher sells a written version of the course at the book store for $40. Buy it and he will tell you which chapters to read before each test. 3x tests each worth 33% of final mark.

Got a 76 without even trying. Total, I put maybe 15 hours into the course the entire semester and it was just reading.

That's the Psych group at UWO... there's some discussions on courses there.

I'm taking 2115 this coming year... I heard it's supposed to be easy if you attend/pay attention

2301 is VERY basic... but like you've hard, VERY VERY dry. It is an easy grade if you're willing to push through it... but on the bright side, I heard that third year clinical and psychopathology classes are quite interesting.
