Porting company website and emails to a different web server provider

Hi,

I was wondering how porting a web site url and all the emails to another server provider is done? This is the second time my e-mails were down and it's crippling my business communication as I type. I am very pissed right now. >:(

How hard (or easy) is it to port my web site and emails to a different service provider?

Fairly easy?

It's just a matter of setting up your new services with your new provider and then updating your DNS information to point at the new provider. Most providers give you full instructions for how to do this.

I hope your domains are in your name and not your current provider, as you may have trouble leaving. This happens with 3rd party resellers some times.

Are you currently using cpanel ?

If so, create a backup on your current host and then find a new host with cpanel and tell them to restore your files.

Once that is done, update the nameservers on your domain.
