The Middle East at the beginning of the 20th century
Keep it about history and not politics - or better yet - just watch the video and do not comment

When is the last time the Italians WON a military battle?
It is not like they are a worthy adversary to brag about defeating.

Being the only country, not to be colonized and having the famous tri colors adopted by many countries, is something to brag about. Given the way, the Italians were kicked out, it was a big deal back then.

There was nice historic documentary shown on PBS. It basically described how the Middle East was once prosperous and Europe was struggling until there was a reversal of fortune. The turning point was the Middle East's mass adoption of religion and shunned scientific endeavors compared to Europe where they embraced it.
