Asus RT-N16 - Does it work with Tomato, or is it just DD-WRT?

Considering buying this router to replace my Linksys WRT54GL router. My Linksys router is working just fine, but the improved ranged on the RT-N16 is the selling point here. I do use Tomato on the Linksys router, and I know I can use DD-WRT on the RT-N16, but I am curious if I can use Tomato on it as well?

I have TomatoUSB on my N16 and it works great.

You can definitely use Tomato or DD-WRT on the RT-N16. Honestly, it would be a crappy router without them as the Asus firmware on it is downright horrible.

I use Toastmans build of Tomato on mine. It's basically TomatoUSB + few more mods and a very nice pre-defined QoS system.

Not to take off topic, but I used tomato and DD-WRT both in the past (with great success on both)... However, I'm using Openwrt now and am not looking back! It runs my VPN better, and there are WAY more options...

Tomato is what I'm running on my RT-N16. Went from the WRT54G v2 to it 2 years back. No issues with the router, almost 300 days up time and handles everything I throw at it (voip, usenet, torrents etc...).

I'd also look at the linksys 3000 you can those for cheap and they are dual band. (2.4 and 5 ghz) where as the rt-n16 is strictly 2.4.

I've also got tomato USB on mine. If I wanted to turn another router into a repeater, what would be a good cost effective option? Also anyone have any good resources on doing this?

Also, is there a better "N" router out there than the RT-N16? What is the best router out there right now that can handle 3rd party.
