We just got our new home and it comes with the pool. Yea, first time owing a house with a pool (above ground) at the backyard.
There's already water filled up but it didnt make it to the level to have the water go in to the pipe for circulation. So, we try to fill it up to the level which cover the entrance to the pipe the other day and turn it off at night. After a day, I notice the water level went down to its original level and it's like a lot of water losee. My question is whether is this normal? I try to find and see anywhere leak but the surrounding area is dry and no water mark.
Any suggestion or recommendation? Does the water vaporize so much at this time in just a day or 2? Note that the pool is not covered yet.
Thankx for any inputs.

To confirm that there is a leak, there are the following methods:
http://www.wikihow.com/Find-a-Leak-in-Your-Swimming-Pool
A video of the bucket test technique:

Since it is an above ground pool, I would imagine it would be easier to detect the leak since the pipes are above ground as well, you just have to be very detailed and trace the entire circulation route. You would be surprised that a small leak can drain a pool over time.
Hope this helps, if not you can always call a professional.

You must have a leak somewhere. Evaporation rate is about an inch per week.

I'll add check your liner carefully as well. You may very well have a whole in the liner just above where the water level is staying. If that's the case, you won't see anything wet as the water will go down the wall and into the sand bed under the liner...

I am going to assume you didn't have a clause in your sale agreement that the pool must be opened, running and all in good working order at completion of sale? It's something that any RE agent worth their commission should have absolutely put in the offer paperwork. Just something for anyone in the future looking at this thread to consider. ;)
kiasu, have you checked the skimmer box seal to the pool wall as well as the return jet? Both of these connections are only sealed with a thing gasket and nuts. A papertowel should reveal if they are wet but try tightening them up anyway. If the water is settling below the skimmer box I would suspect it as the leak along with the liner somewhere above the settling point...

CSK'sMom, thx for your advice. I'm new to owning the pool and newbie to those terms and sorry for being noob. Yes, I did scan through the skimmer box seal and its surrounding area and didnt notice any leaking or water but I will check again this evening when I get home..
Anyway, I will have someone to come in and check cause I want to know what happen or at least the cause for this problem...
