I'm in the market for a tablet, after I broke my Kobo, the main purpose will be to read ebooks, surf the web and youtube.
not that big into apps and games on a tablet.
I will be using hot spot from my Galaxy SII so 3G is not needed.
Anything around the $200.00 range, the less the better.
under 10 inch in size, going to be carrying it around and don't want it too big.

Are you looking for a reputed brand or an aftermarket Chinese/Asian brand?
For your price and under 10" and needs, I'd recommend the Blackberry Playbook 16GB (you can find LNIBs or BNIBs) for around the $150 to $200 range, considering they are $199.99 + taxes new. Or you can take a look at the Samsung Galaxy 7" Tab 2 for around $250 brand new (even though its $50 more than your budget). Other than that I am not too sure, but like I said the Chinese ones lack in reliability but make up for in affordability.

i wouldn't prefer any of those Chinese after market items.
I have an andriod, so i would be familiar with the Samsung tablets.
how is the blackberry OS? will it still be receiveing support from blackberry in the future, or is it dead?
also, i like to down avi. video files, will these play over the playbook? since i know apple doesnt allow video playback for soo many different files.

Well the Playbook OS just got bumped to 2.0 earlier this year adding more functions such as native email, as well as Android app support (but RIM removed that), etc. As for warranty support, it will be EOL soon once the Playbook 2s roll in with LTE and such, so its a hit or miss but I am sure they might send a replacement if they have or the newest one? Who knows?
I think it plays avi files, depending on mp3 or ac3 audio codec.
If you have an Android device, you might as well stick with the Android platform as you're more familiar with it.
Another recommendation is the Lenovo A1 tablet: http://www.canadacomputers.com/product_info.php?cPath=375&item_id=048091
Good luck!
