Hi folks,

I live in Newmarket, and have 'patchy' areas where there isn't much grass.

My question is first, is that right I need Top Soil and Grass Seeds correct?

Also, is this a good time to seed, it's not that bad but bad enough to make you want to fix as much as you can.

Because my lawn gets a fair amount of sun, I was also informed to get Kentucky Bluegrass seed.

PS> No weeds to concerned about.

Any help / tips / suggestion for newbie me would be immensely appreciated.

Thank you in advance.

Too hot to seed now. The best time to seed the lawn in in the fall around september.

Its not ideal, but you can still do it, just keep it from getting dried out during the first couple weeks and the more you stay off it the better.

Scotts has a seed that is mixed with mulch and soil that is pretty much guarenteed to grow anywhere. It is calld EZ-Seed, I have used it in some spots and it works great. It costs a bit more but you basically throw it down and throw some water on it every few days, and it will grow for sure, since it has it's own soil basically. If you want a "larger" amount you can buy a big pack of it at Costco for a good price.

wait until the fall, unless you are willing to water it daily.

Spring or Fall is a good time to seed...I put seed and dirt on my lawn in the beginning of May and maintain it with fertilizer throughout the summer. I would wait until the Fall and then lay some down. Just keep watering for now...looks like it will be another hot summer :)
