These are lightweight pots and pans, hence, light or occasional cooking. If you are cooking meals every day for a family the teflon will wear out in 2 or 3 years. You'll have to decide if it is worthwhile, or if you need long lasting stainless steel with thick bottoms.

i don't do much cooking, probably, 2-3 days a week for only me and my bf, the baby don't eat yet. most of the time I m lazy, and just do take outs. would any one recommend this set for me at this price, hot or warm deal?

I like it. It's $11 per item, with covers, steamer, several pots, 2 fry pans, and a casserole for the oven.
Just be extra careful with the teflon surfaces. They always get scratched and wear out no matter what the manufacturer says.

I personally think the Walmart's T-fal Start Up Grey 8pc Set is good deal. $64 for 8Pc ...

I am not a fan of Teflon, so my response is going to be biased :) I really think that it's better to invest good money into heavy stainless steel pots and pans. With proper care, they will last you forever. I made the mistake of buying cheap aluminum and Teflon sets when I was younger, and they get scratched up, don't hold the heat well, and get warped. It just ends up being wasted money since you need to replace the pieces.

Yes! And once they get scratched the surface can start flaking off and gets in your food. This is a known carcinogen and probably not something you'd want to expose to your baby once it starts eating your cooking.

Also, you have to be careful with the heat, as teflon begins to degrade after a certain heat point (345F?) and the problems of chemical leaching and again the surface layer degrading begin.

If you don't do a lot of cooking, it's sometimes hard to justify spending a lot of money on cooking equipment. However, you would be surprised at how much easier it is to prepare food given the right tools, ie sharp knives, good pans. Thin pans tend to warp and burn food, which can be really frustrating. I use a good quality non-stick skillet from the President's Choice line. They all break down eventually, but I have had better luck with these heavier ones.

I know there are issues with using non-stick cookware, but there are moments when you need that non-stick surface. I would only buy the skillet in that finish anyway, my set of pots are stainless steel.

Would it even make sense to get a full set if you don't do much cooking to begin with?

Just buy 1 or 2 quality pieces that you know you'll use regularly. The others you can probably get by with what you already own.

I'm not a fan of non-stick except for frying pan needs but if you're ok with it and on a budget, look at IKEA or Kijiji/Craigslist. Examples for your reference.

If you don't cook much, you may find yourself not liking to cook and thus continuing to cook less if you have bad cookware because the results don't turn out.

I saw a good looking 10 piece set of Stainless Steel at RCSS, maybe other Loblaws have it, half price at $100. When they say 10 pc, they count the lids as a separate piece. A few places actually count the items!
There is often a good $100 set at Costco, but I haven't been there for a couple of months.
I hope the OP ends up with something she likes and uses. It is always encouraging to see an interested home cook, as opposed to take out or delivery.

+1 On this. I refuse to buy t-fal any longer because of this.
