I have a mobilicity plan... Unlimited everything. My dad is entitled to a free upgrade with his Rogers account and he doesn't mind signing another 3 yr contract and giving me a phone. I am looking for a Rogers phone that I can unlock to use my mobilicity sim. Any suggestions? I would also like I have the feature to create a hot spot for tethering since I have unlimited useage. I prefer a non blackberry phone...although I have unlimited bbm as well.
Thanks!!!

I believe Mobilicity uses AWS (1700/2100) while Rogers uses 850/1900; therefore, you'll need a very specific phone from Rogers.
Many phones I have seen support Mobilicity/Wind or Rogers/Fido/Bell/Telus.

I don't see the AWS 1700 frequency mentioned specs, or are the specs wrong?

It has the 1700 for sure.
Do you have to do anything to the phone to enable it?

Nope. It is a pentaband phone. Just slide in your SIM and you are good to go. Already unlocked.

No. Rogers HTC 1X will not work on Mobilicity
Maybe Roger Galaxy Note will, you just need to unlock and modify the firmware of it to work.
Check kijiji if you decide for the Note, I saw some Firmware Mods for hire there. Just search Galaxy Note.

Rogers phones that are aws compatible: Nokia Lumia 710, Galaxy Note i717 (rooted) and Galaxy Nexus.
Or you can get a higher end phone such as the One X and sell it so you can buy other aws compatible phones.
