I think stang.net has a Canadian subforum. are you going to put in a coyote engine?

If you gonna build a stang find a clean shell fox body from the states.

Waste of money to spend it on a 2000+Gen its heavy and lacks the support the fox body has.

You'll get a beaten up GT at 5,000$.

I saw an old SS camaro this morning. Definitely a garage queen. so edging clean and sounded awesome.

But the 2000+ has a nice modern interior while the old fox bodies has a typical 80s interior which is ugly.

5k won't get you a GT, at least not one that hasn't been beat to within an inch of it's life.

you can get the 94-98 cars a hell of a lot cheaper in GT trim.

the best time to buy these cars is typically off season in the fall/winter. check kijiji/craigslist for deals.

I would suggest getting a 4.6 DOHC motor from an older lincoln (contintental, aviator, MkVIII) - they had a teksid block which has been known to take well over 1000whp in boosted applications.

'94 to '04 basically had the same interior, save a few very minor changes.

finding a clean fox body is becoming difficult - original, no-rust, non molested ones are 10k+ now

3150lbs for a 99-04 coupe isn't heavy. and there is tons of aftermarket support for these cars.

Good luck with that.
I wouldn't sell my 02 gt for anything close to $5k.

As posted above, I would look for a clean fox body from the south. If you are looking at putting in a new engine, then you can also look at the 2.3l models as they are much cheaper. They only used half of the engine bay, but could easily put a 5.0 inside. The only thing about the fox body is the integrity of the frame, you will have to add subframe connectors.

But if I was to build a Mustang, it would be the fox.

Good luck!
