View Full Version : cant connect to my wifi,,,newbie here on iphone 4

just purchased a used iphone 4 unlocked...has version 4.3.3(8j2)
my itouch connects to my wifi
the iphone 4 sees my name on wifi and i enter password and than says unable to connect
tried unplugging router/modem..no luck
i have no sim card as of now....
should i try to get the latest firmware on itunes?
or do you need a sim card to get free wifi?

Pretty sure you need a SIM, No?
Other then that try resetting your phone.

i belive nothave dlink and just checked settings
my laptops..ittouch are all able to connect

Even though your laptop and iTouch can connect doesn't mean that mac filtering has not been enabled. Are you the person that set up the router?

Have you been able to connect to other wi-fi networks or is this your first attempt?

with itoch it shows others with wifi
but with iphone 4
just my router
under other its blank

That's strange that your iTouch can see other networks and not your iPhone. Did you try walking around your place or even outside to see if you can see any other networks?
You could try temporarily disabling encryption of your router to see if you iPhone can connect.

now curious if i go to starbucks/mcdonalds if i can get on internet

At least you could see the networks. No need to go to Starbucks. Just temporarily disable encryption on your router to see if the iPhone will connect to your network.
