Anyone know the best place to view fireworks with the toronto skyline in the background?
Something similar to the picture in this site: http://www.citytv.com/toronto/citynews/news/local/article/211235--canada-day-2012-fireworks-events-across-toronto

I was looking at the listing of the firework events and the closest place is at Ashbridge's Bay Park. But then I don't think getting that shot is possible...since the park is more east.

Don't think anyone can ever get the shot like the one linked. It impossible to have fireworks going off on land specially in downtown core. it looks photoshop to me. May be I am wrong.

That shot is from the Cavalcade of Lights, which takes place over Nathan Phillips Square... in November. The only city-based fireworks on Canada Day is from Ashbridges Bay, so you'll have a more distant skyline.

And since when is it impossible for fireworks to go off in the downtown core? They've been on the CN Tower, City Hall, and all kinds of parks. As for just land? Canada's Wonderland, Centennial Park... and all kinds of places in the world that aren't on a lake.

Thanks Astin. I actually thought it was photoshopped as well...had no idea such an event existed in November lol. Thanks for pointing it out, time to add that event to my photography list haha

All those fireworks can't be coming from just Nathan Phillips Square. My guess is it is photoshopped too.

that is the exact view you get from a spot on center island, I have an exact picture of that view, minus the fireworks. Not only you can tell fireworks were added, the moon is also fake. This is looking north, and the moon can never be in the north east corner of Toronto. It is either south or west.

Didn't say it wasn't photoshopped, just that it wasn't from Canada Day fireworks. If you want fireworks close to the city for a shot, you have to get it from a different event. And it won't look like that.

I'm pretty sure the moon is in the wrong position in the sky for it to be an unedited photograph.

usually I don't bother going far to watch the Canada Day fireworks - my town usually has a pretty good show. This year was an exception - the fireworks crew experienced a mega fail. Their automatic firing system failed, and they basically had to fire every shot manually - a freakin' disaster. the delays between bursts were way too long.

took a few pics

then got bored and went home. the show from my porch wasn't actually that bad

take a trip to Manhattan if you want to see really big fireworks
