Hi there,
My actual budget is ~$500 but I can go as high as $650 and I have a $100 best buy gift certificate. I'd like to buy a new camera soon but I am unsure of what to get.
In my price range is the Canon T3 but I am tempted to get the T3i. I am also looking at the <$600 mirrorless cameras but it seems at this price point that I must make some compromises. I'm looking at the entry level Panasonic, Olympus, and Sony cameras. My main concern with these cameras is the lack of a viewfinder. I'd also like a camera that can interface with third party software for remote control. I know that just about every Canon can be remotely controlled and even the brands mentioned but I am not sure about the mirrorless cameras. I kind of like the compactness of the mirrorless cameras and I am willing to compromise on manual controls. Really, I am looking for the best camera be it point and shoot, dslr or mirrorless. I am a scientist and I will use it to photograph specimens.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
