World War II Could Have Been Avoided

World War II could have been avoided if the Treaty of Versailles wasn't so punitive to Germany. The treaty was very harsh to Germany and it really helped to destroy the German economy. It unfairly punished many of the citizens of Germany who had nothing to do with WWI. By helping to punish Germany it paved the way for Hitler to use it as a rallying point and blame Jews for Germany`s problems. Because the situation was so horrible in Germany, Hitler blamed them since he hated them and he could use a minority to take all the blame and get into power. People were very angry in Germany because of the situation and Hitler used that emotion to blame Jews and get into power. Many Germans felt humiliated and this helped to fuel more nationalism and support for Hitler.

German Chancellor Heinrich Brüning wanted to create an Austro-German Customs Union in order to prevent Hitler from gaining power but it was rejected which only helped to get Hitler in power.

If the Treaty of Versailles wasn't so harsh then WWII would have been prevented.
