I’m sure most of us know about Sushi Kai because they continued having daily deal at almost all the deal sites very frequently. They used to sell over 1000+ voucher at some site. They used deal site to support their business, and it seems to be very successful. I bought a lot of voucher myself as well. I like the place also because they are Korean-owned. The quality is a bit better than other non-authentic Japanese restaurant (if you know what I mean).
The food used to be pretty good. I always picked one of the sushi set with 10 different kind of fish. (They have removed this set awhile back).
My 2nd last visit to this resto was in March, 2012.
I went back last night. I noticed that the owner and all staffs are different. I suspect that it’s now operated under a different owner.
I looked at the menu, all the sushi set are gone. Quality is not as good as before.
Anyone else notice this?

Yup. I'm a frequent visitor of Sushi Kai. The value I get from these deals is too good to pass up. I have to admit the food quality nowadays is not the best, but I can't pass up a good deal. Their regular prices are a bit too high for their quality imo. But with a groupon, suddenly it's one of the best options in terms of value.
Yes they've removed most of their "raw fish" sushi sets. Now all they have is an 18 piece maki set which is still not terrible. I noticed in various review sites that people complain about the portion. I actually really like the fish to rice portion on their rolls. Many places stuff it with rice. Sushi Kai is the opposite. Sure, there isn't a lot of rice. But rice is cheap and it's the "stuff" that matters to me. I remember when they had their sushi combinations, their sushi was the best. Compared to other restaurants, the piece of fish is more fresh and bigger. Too bad they don't have sushi combination plates anymore. I hope they bring it back.
Their chicken/beef in their bento tastes a bit weird but it's decent value because you get all that stuff.
I'm not sure if the owner is Korean. The wait staff are a mix of Japanese and Korean. No chinese for sure. One of the sushi chef is japanese. Of the 15 or so times I've been there, their service has ranged from atrocious to awesome. I think with their new wait staff, they're going to be more consistent.
All in all, I still think it's a great place to visit with a groupon. I really miss their sushi combination plates and hope they bring it back. All the economics sense in me says the way they do groupons is not sustainable and I'm not surprised they had to remove their sushi combination plates because those are probably the most expensive items in terms of ingredient costs. Regardless, this restaurant has won my support and I'll still visit them. Though I'll stop visiting if they remove the bento box and 18 piece maki set too...I strongly recommend this restaurant to people looking for a good deal. I don't recommend this if you want the BEST sushi.
