hi Redflag,
This is follow-up to the post “Trevor took the fireplace when I was not home!” link to original post (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/trevor-took-fireplace-when-i-not-home-1192861/)
Now I have paid a junk removal guy and removed the junk from my mother’s garage.
I don’t need the help from Trevor to remove the junk or I need the fireplace back;
but I still feel violated and taken advantage of. These kinds of action should not go unpunished.
I posted the same story on craigslist, today I get an email form a random stranger with contact information of the perpetrator,
including Facebook address, his family Facebook address and where he works and stuff.
I was thinking just send a message to all his friends and family on Facebook, with the link of my story and let Trevor work out the details.
My question here for you today is how should I writhe the email/messagage ..
here is my take on for the message:
hi,
you might want to read this Because YOU KNOW the person who involved in this incident.
Here is what happned to me (click on the link to read the story)
http://toronto.en.craigslist.ca/tor/rnr/*****.html
I see that you know Trevor personally can you contact him and ask why he has commit such a horrible act.
thanks for you time

And you hope to achieve what by this?
You think his family will believe a random over someone they know?

I have proof of the voice-mail he left and I am sure he has the fireplace he took from me, which they can verify from the photos I have.

And I reiterate, you hope to achieve what by potentially slandering someone to their family and friends?
You have proof? You have a voice mail proving nothing. He will have emails sent from YOUR email address to multiple people slandering him. Why didn't you just call the police if you were so upset about this?

May want to have someone check over the grammar and spelling before sending any email out. Besides, if I received an email from someone I don't know asking me to click on a link, I would delete it in a heart beat due to phishing and other scams that happen via email.

You know where he lives?
Pay someone to have the junk moved to his front lawn.

That sucks. You got taken advantage of and all you wanted was a little service in return for a fireplace.
You should've monitored the garage.

Well, you want me do nothing? you want me to let him get away with robbing?
would you be ok if this happened to you?
The reason I dint go to police because it is not a case where police even gonna care for what happened.
You think police will take any action regarding this? I think they will take the info down and that's about it.

Yes I know, English is not my first language, surely will check before sending email. That is why I am asking for help here.

That is one fugly fireplace. You should have paid Trevor to steal it from your garage. Don't show that pic to anyone, they will automatically take Trevor's side and might even give him a commendation.

Stop being such a drama queen. Seriously, you paid a junk removal guy to take away 4 pallets and a tiny box of kitchenware??? You're in the GTA - just put the damn kitchen box in the grey bin and the pallets beside it for curbside pickup.

So you're going to send that to his family and friends? Like someone else said, what do you hope to accomplish? Are you really that naive that you think his friends and family will care? If I was one of his friends and got an e-mail like that, I probably wouldn't even read it, but if I did, I wouldn't care in the least. I would think you're a giant baby who needs to get over things.
You should have originally called the police when he entered into your garage without permission. You were too stubborn to do that, so get over it at this point.

+1
I would be careful, he may turn around and charge you for libel if you decide to email/message his friends and family. It's a gaudy fireplace that someone removed for you. Sure, they removed it without your being there but seriously, it is really worth all this hassle? You've removed all the other junk, end of story.

Right, a random person sends me an email about a friend or relative and i'm going to.... Ignore It! Decent or not YOU are a random person on the internet sending unsolicited email slandering someone I know and I am going to have a sudden epiphany...
What do I want you to do? Grow Up and learn a life lesson, that doesn't seem likely to happen. The reason you didn't go to the police is because you don't want any trouble or your scared of authority figures or you are not telling the whole story. Grow a spine. You seriously think that the police ignore b&e offenses? Someone BROKE INTO YOUR HOUSE! Yes the police will come and fill out a report and then ask you if you know who might have done it, that's when you tell them about 'Trevor' and they will follow up with him.
3 years ago my wife was threatened by someone at her school, she had her wisdom teeth pulled and was prescribed Oxycontin. She was talking to to a couple friends about the surgery and not taking the Oxy because they were too much for her but she had the prescription filled. An acquaintance of one of her friends offered to buy the pills and she said no. He got loud and threatened her and she came home in tears. When she told me I wanted to go too the police but she thought it would make the situation worse, she just wanted to ignore it. I persuaded her to file a police report, we went down to the police HQ and did a preliminary filing and later that night a detective stopped buy house for a full report. Next day he meets the guy at school for a conversation, guy admits to the threat but says he was kidding. Detective tells him that if he so much as looks at my wife he'll be arrested, then stops by the admin office to inform them of the guy admitting to threatening a student to try and get her to sell him a controlled substance. He was thrown out of school by the end of the day for violating the schools code of ethics.
Your assumption that the police; who's JOB it is to serve and protect will simply write a report and do nothing is ignorant and an insult to anybody putting on a uniform... You didn't even give them a chance to help. Your assumption that giving a random person from the internet personal information and easy access to something they wanted was false. Lastly your assumption that emailing this story to his family and friends will result in 'decency' is flawed as previously stated. But you haven't had the best track record with assumptions so far in this affair. You are the one that stated you felt violated and robbed in your original thread, well that's because you WERE! Your ARE doing one thing that will bring about NOTHING, your posting anonymously on the internet and anonymously sending emails. You want to hear people echo your sentiment that you were wronged and sending out emails is the right thing to do...
Would I be ok if this happened to me? It wouldn't happen to me, I have common sense and have learned that assumptions are not something to base decisions on. If I was robbed the first thing I would do is call the police, not compose a letter.
But hey, if your looking for a parrot and not an opinion; "I Cant Believe This Happened, You Should Totally Write A Letter. This Trevor Guy Sounds Like A Real Evil Person And His Family And Friends MUST Know!"

This
Double fail. Maybe even triple fail? I'm loosin count
RFD isn't going to do anything. Either talk to the police or buy a new garage door lock and USE it, or forget about it.
Edit
And, be extra thankfull he didn't take more than the fireplace!! Surprised you did get robbed!!

OP - I don't understand.
You told Trevor he could have the fireplace
You told him where you live
You told him where the fireplace is at
He took it
Why do you now want it back?
This is not a theft - it is just an matter for civil court as a contract law issue.
He owes you the money for the junk removal as was agreed upon - that is all

You should have put the skids out on your curb and wrote a sign that said "free firewood" or whatever. Sure someone would have taken them.
For the smaller items you could have just put them in garbage bags and out on the curb. Not sure why you had to hire a junk removal company.
Dude screwed you over but you shouldn't have given him all of the details on where it was/etc. Next time tell someone the general area of your house and set up a meeting time and then tell the guy and meet him there and he takes it/etc.

i read the OP from the other thread. Bottom line this doesn't seem like a big issue, call him up, if he took the fireplace, ask him to take the junk too.
If he didn't take it, file a police report. File one anyways for B&E since he came when you weren't there.
QED.

Wait, I can't tell from your other thread or this one - wasn't the fireplace FREE?? But let me get this straight:
- you gave away the fireplace,
- told Trevor it was in your garage and gave him the address and time to pick it up from;
- you "assumed he’s running late and I left the house and came back about 30 min later, when I came back, for my shock the fireplace was gone".
- Trevor showed up close to the prearranged time to find you not home
- Trevor either a)assumes you didn't care to be there since you already told him it was in the garage and it was free anyways or b) being a jerk for not being there when you said you were
Now I don’t know what to do, I feel like I have been violated and robbed; First he did not tell me that he was at the house, he took the fireplace and left the junk.
a man came to my house when no one was home opened my garage and took a valuable item without paying anything in return. Now I feel robed and violated. What can I do now?
Did Trevor pick a lock or break a window to get into your garage? It sure doesn't seem like it, or you would've cried about that too.
Was Trevor suppose to pay cash for this fireplace? It doesn't sound like that either - it was just to take away a large fireplace.
You tell a guy to pick up an item from your garage (and at no point did you say you had to be there.) He goes into your garage to pick up the free fireplace as directed. That's NOT Breaking & Entering or Robbery. Now as I said before, stop being a drama queen.

I am not going to follow up on this, not worth for me to pursue any further, the time and energy wasted on this would not be justified.

This ridiculous thread is still going? Meanwhile other interesting, though provoking threads get closed off because someone brings politics into the discussion. Talk about beating a dead horse, all over an ugly fireplace that was literally GARBAGE!

Hey, Trevor literally took the fireplace when OP wasn't home. That's pretty thread-worthy. Plus, it's not garbage - it has that retro chic appeal.
