I am also interested in learning more about finding vinyl wrap in the states. A friend of mine has been searching for the best deals in this.
I would appreciate any suggestions, too! Thanks for sharing!

No Kidding!!
I went to a place here in Whitby ("unique"something... can't remember the full name)... and they wanted $350+tax (YES, THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY) to do the roof of a VW GTI in plain gloss black vinyl (forget carbon fiber)... that is no bigger than 3'x6' area.
The 3M vinyl is peanuts (probably $50 worth of material), and they were going to charge for 3 hours of labour... Simply ludicrous how much profit these vinyl wrap guys are making.
If you guys find a supplier for a decent amount, I'd definitely be interested.

What you have to realize is that you're also paying for a skill. If you want to save the money read (and read some more) on how to do it yourself.
Do you complain when a mechanic is charging $80/hr+ to fix something on your car?

I've applied vinyl before, it is not difficult... I have done it before on much harder applications actually, such as wrapping my motorcycle, with much more curves/grooves.... the "skill" in applying a vinyl sheet to a completely flat roof surface does not justify whatever crazy per hour rate they are trying to charge me.
When I went to the shop to get a quote, sure I expected a shop rate for installation; but certainly not 3 hours for a 1 hour job, nor whatever ridiculous markup they have on the materials as well.
So my question stands... if anyone can find the raw material from a 3M distributor at a good price, I can surely do the application myself.

Sorry, I know this thread is over a month old but I just came across it and thought I would input my opinion.

I don't know if the installer you contacted has a legit business or not but a same day turnaround is pretty good. Typically, I ask for a one day minimum for partial wraps. Are there rivets on the trailer because they add time to the installation? Is there hardware that needs to be removed and put back for the installation process? Many different factors an installer has to consider that most clients wouldn't even think about.

I do vehicle wraps on the side and that number is not far off industry standard. You mentioned it's an actual shop. You do realize there are overhead costs, salaries, material, time, labour, etc. For you, someone who is not in the industry to judge what is difficult or not is ignorant. Yes, a roof wrap may be easier to install as opposed to a bumper but they are not charging you as per the job difficulty.
It's like saying how do car detailers justify their pricing for cleaning a car? It's just water, soap and a vacuum...
Things to consider....
