Another good offer from Dell here. The D-Link DNS-320 ShareCenter 2 Bay Network Attached Storage Enclosure is $89.99 (http://click.linksynergy.com/fs-bin/click?id=CAqD7bLWUPI&subid=0&offerid=250536.1&type=10&tmpid=1534&u1=deals&RD_PARM0=http%253A%252F%252Faccessories.dell.com%2 52Fsna%252Fproducts%252FHard_Drives_Storage%252Fpr oductdetail.aspx%253Fc%253Dca%2526l%253Den%2526s%2 53Dbsd%2526cs%253Dcabsdt1%2526sku%253DA5265163&u1=deals&RD_PARM1=http%253A%252F%252Faccessories.dell.com%2 52Fsna%252Fproducts%252FHard_Drives_Storage%252Fpr oductdetail.aspx%253Fc%253Dca%2526l%253Den%2526s%2 53Dbsd%2526cs%253Dcabsdt1%2526sku%253DA5265163) when you use coupon code LKKZ$VV?T6QHW2. This pretty much matches the hottest prices we've seen in the past ($79.99 + ~$10 shipping).

The DNS-320 has 2 bays as the name implies, supports SATA and RAID 0/1, can function as a USB print server, and connects at Gigabit speeds. Shipping is free.

The additional $10 coupon applied fine at first, but after signing into www.airmilesshops.ca and re-adding the DNS-320 to my cart, it says "The following coupons have been entered but require additional information or do not meet eligibility requirements". Anyone else having that issue?

you'll need firmware 2.02 or higher for 3tb support

I can tell you when my Netgear comes in, but the D-Link has some major issues, which you can find on the D-Link forums. I can only write to it through FTP.

Netgear has more USB ports. It has 1xUsb2.0 and 2xUSB3.0

How much better is the DNS-325 compared to the 320 here? Is it worth while to wait for a deal on the 325?

The Dell site says the 320 uses SATA-150 but 325 uses SATA-300. Is this accurate and if it is will this make a difference in the speed?

I just saw a post on D-Link forums mentioned the RAID 1 is NOT for backup. I am confused what the RAID1 for?

Probably not. It all depends, of course, on what kind of drives you put into the NAS, but there aren't a lot of conventional HDD's that would max out a SATA 2 connection, let alone a SATA 3 one.

I have a 323 and without rooting, the USB only supports print server functions. I'm assuming it's the same on the 320.

Thanks. Can the processor speed and RAM make a big difference between the 325 and the 320?

Raid 1 is just mirroring your data in case a drive dies. I have the DNS-323 in Raid 1 and have accidentally deleted files which are then gone forever - there's no recycle bin on the NAS. I use an external drive hooked up to my computer to backup the NAS for this purpose. If you're backing up your computer to your NAS then you won't have this issue since you'll have 2 copies, but I use my NAS as a primary drive to hold photos so I still need another copy on another drive. The RAID 1 is overkill for my purpose and I plan on un-raiding my drives.

individual mount with scedule concurrent backup is safest. raid offers no speed benifit here and argueably on any of the 2 bay available.

usb can support fat 32 ntfs or ext 2/3. Its used for backup purposes or print server or anything else if u funplug it

its faster, but at the 325 price go for a synology equivalent

Those worried about 3TB drives, I have two different 3TB Seagate's in RAID1 and they work find with the DNS-320 and F/W 2.01. Be warned that F/W 2.02 is not Downgradable.

$83.74 + ON tax = $94.6
$90 + ON tax = $101.7
Savings = $7.1 ... not bad I guess, almost 10% of price

Gonna give it a try now :) despite my DNS-323 going strong still

Those on the fence, I was too but the previous Tiger Direct thread from last year convinced me.

I'm running the DNS-320 with Fonz Fun_Plug and Twonky Media Server (not free). I have two 3TB drives in RAID1 and F/W 2.01. No hiccups to date other then running out of run with my two 500GB drives.
P2P Client, FTP, UPnP AV, iTunes servers are all built-in.

Overall, a great unit for under $100.

I have one of these, and it works just fine for the most part. My only complaint is the bloody small fan is loud, and won't always turn off. There was a firmware upgrade that was supposed to fix it, but the problem still happens.

Still, for the price (I paid $100) it is a good little NAS.

Are there issues with 2.02?

There were issues and people were trying to downgrade and couldn't.
I forget the issues and can't find it right now. If I do, I'll post it. It wasn't huge issues but the native UPnP AV server had an issue and I think the FTP as well.

There is a 2.03 BETA available, read more here --> DNS320 Forums (http://forums.dlink.com/index.php?board=276.0)

Are there issues with 2.02?

I just installed a new 3TB drive (so now I have a 2TB and a 3TB) into mine so I had to upgrade to 2.02 (latest fw available).

I'll post back if I have any issues. So far, it seems to be running okay.
