If you like a bigger screen, LTE support, and want to experience Android OS/UI then yes. Otherwise if you're just as happy with the 4S and the apps, the UI, etc then stick with the 4S. You could give it a try and worst case you can return/sell it if you don't like it.

Sell the 4S to recoup the cost of buying the S3. A used 4S should still fetch a decent amount, but do it before the iPhone 5 is eventually announced.

I just used my HUP to get an S3 and used it for 2 days and just returned it yesterday to go back to my iPhone 4S. The screen is big, too big IMO and it is really over saturated and "fuzzy" compared to the sharp and crisp iPhone retina display. It may be smaller but it's a lot shared and has better colour reproduction and white balance, the S3 screen cannot make up for it's flaws with it's size. The camera was horrible too, all the shots I took were blurry and grainy where similar shots in the same environment as the 4S came out sharp. Lastly the apps, there's still lots of games and apps only available to IOS, I had a hard time trying to find android equivalents to all my iPhone games and apps. The S3 is also difficult to use 1 handed due to the size, I found myself having to shuffle or bump the phone up and down in my hand to get access to all the on screen buttons, where as the iPhone is small enough I can reach everything without any shuffle of the phone up and down in my hand.

After spending just 2 days and giving it my best effort I returned the phone and unHUP'd my account and will wait for the new iPhone hopefully should be in Oct. I personally haven't found an Android phone to date that I found could make me want to switch and I'm no apple fanboy, as I have tried to like andriod several times but their phones just didn't do it for me. I'd advise to keep your iPhone, but if you really want to switch don't sell it right away as like me you may want to switch back shortly.

I tried that, but most people offer low prices and then if I say higher they say the iphone 5 is coming why would we get the 4s..

Ha, trust me that is definitely not the case. You might have gotten some offers from low-life scum trying to lowball the crap out of you.

If there is one thing that every person who participates in the BST section of any forum knows for sure is the fact that any somewhat-recent iProduct made by Apple has great resale value. You should have absolutely no issues trying to sell a 4S at a good price (assuming its in good and working condition). Like djemzine said, if you sell your 4S, you can not only make up what you paid for the GSIII, but you might even be able to recoup the original price you paid on your 4S. Obviously, don't sell your phone unless you know for sure you want to keep the GSIII.

If you can, unlock your 4S and sell it on eBay (Worldwide). There's tons of people from Eastern Europe and South America that are looking for new phones that they can't get locally (because they have to pay triple or quadruple what we pay).

As for the GSIII. It's entirely dependent on what you want out of your phone. I think the GSIII is a nice and simple looking phone that isn't too flashy but has some pretty cool features. I like the large display (I have large hands so 4.5-5" phones are comfortable for me) but in the end, it all comes down to the OS. You can't judge whether you want a phone or not unless you're comfortable with its OS. It's tough to give you a more definitive answer but that's just the truth of it. I think there's a good selection of powerful and nice Droid devices such as the GSIII, HTC 1X and GNote but its the OS you need to enjoy rather than just the phone itself. Getting your feet wet with the GSIII is a good way of finding out whether you like ICS or not (and Jelly Bean and so on).

I ordered a s3 from rogers at 347 dollars it was white 16gb but they cancelled it :( and they only offered me a 50 dollar discount if i wanted to purchase the phone

tell you the truth iphone is the king of the market, the hipsters might go with android to look cool but the iphone is a people person it does everything and has never lagged so dont need more RAM and a bigger processor. So many games and other apps you never get bored, not to mention their videos and music sections. Everyone might have a iphone but it might just be because its the best phone ever created and each one gets better and better

so pick the iphone 4s

I switched from an iPhone 4 to a Galaxy S3 and prefer the Galaxy and Android over the iPhone
Reasons:
- Better screen (size, colours etc)
- FAR BETTER RECEPTION, PHONE PERFORMANCE (No dropped calls, missed calls etc, iPhone always had issues with performance as a phone, also I'm in the GTA)
- LTE is FAST - Makes 3G seem like cheap dial-up
- More flexibility with Android, it's amazing what you can do with this phone
- Most apps are available on Android
- Better web browsing
- Lighter
- Not stuck with iTunes - Can simply drag and drop content to the phone
- Better sync (contacts, calendar etc)

The only downside, is that Android is more "complicated" than ios. For someone who wants stupid simple, stick with iPhone, for someone who wants performance, go with the Samsung.

Ask yourself, are you happy with the 4S? Do you feel like you will be more content with S3 or iPhone 4S? Best is to try and play with an actual handset too.

It is really what fits you best.

You're getting it the other way around, Androids are more popular than iOS devices. In fact, Android has a 50% marketshare over Apple's 30% (http://www.comscore.com/Press_Events/Press_Releases/2012/7/comScore_Reports_May_2012_U.S._Mobile_Subscriber_M arket_Share). With around 900,000 activations per day (http://www.engadget.com/2012/06/10/google-andy-rubin-says-android-activations-up-to-900000-a-day/), its no surprise that Android is ahead of iOS.

But perhaps hipsters are living in a hipster's paradox? Being a hipster has become so mainstream that going mainstream instead is the hipster thing to do?

I haven't read much, but what I have learned about the s3, the only innovative thing it offers is capturing a photo while video recording., which to me is awesome.

While on Capital Hill I wanted to record the entire fireworks display so couldn't take any pic. Thankfully I brought my nexus on Mobi and had someone take a few inferior (5MP over 8MP :( ) pics just for the sake of it....so sad.

Otherwise, is the S3 really pushing the envelope on anything???

I really like the refined GUI of itunes vis-a-vis playlists. Having been dabbling with mp3s from when winamp dropped, I don't know if I like anything else out there. What do people use on Android???

Is there a similar 'block in-app purchases' available through the google play market?

Retina display truly is a champion.

That is correct if you are talking about only smartphones and exclude tablets and if you're talking about the US market alone (anyone who didn't take the time to click Dark-Colonel's link should have a look now to see his source ;) ).

However, if you are indeed comparing the worldwide (including Canada) market share of all android devices vs all iOS devices - less biased sources (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13579_3-57464763-37/apples-ios-grabs-65-of-mobile-web-traffic/) (ie: not counting carriers skewed sales stats, but instead analyzing mobile web traffic which is difficult to game) put the current numbers at 65.3% in June 2012 for iOS vs 19.7% for Android.

Man where are you guys seeing cheap s3's? I checked toronto kijiji and everyone wants 575+, last i checked you can't sell a 4s for anywhere near 575 (more like 450 ish).

I thought about getting this phone if i got it at the right price (<500) but then I saw it in store yesterday and it seemed kinda too big, but then again when i saw the galaxy nexus for the first time i thought it was too big, but then i got it and thought it was perfect.

Currently using a 4s and not enjoying it :(, really prefer "stock ics" android. I'm thinking ill just sell my 4s for 450 and pick up a one x until the price of the s3 drops.

The facts couldn't be more clear:

1. Android leads the market with the total number of devices sold(phones and tablets).

2. Android devices are typically less expensive than their Apple counterparts so it's obviously there would be more Android devices purchased.

To say otherwise makes you a running joke that we can easily put refute your 'facts' time and time again.

Hardware upgrade's don't count as sales? They're still sales just at a discounted rate because of the 3 year renewal.
Does the phone manufacturer get money from the 3 year renewal? Assuming the consumer chose a Samsung phone or a iPhone etc?

That's a good question. When Google is using phrases like "activations which include software upgrades on existing devices", it is certain that the 400 million number is inflated.

That's why it is more accurate to look at objective sources to establish the true distribution of OS's in the world today. For example, as I noted in my post on the second page (http://forums.redflagdeals.com/galaxy-s3-worth-buying-when-you-already-have-iphone-4s-1198295/2/#post15001866) of this thread:
