I'm thinking of buying this for my wife's birthday. Am I missing something, or is this a smoking hot deal?

NOPE. Don't do it. Your wife will NOT be happy!

Just do the math, even if the spa is open 6 days a week, that's about 10 people a DAY, just for voucher holders.

This deal is not sustainable. I'll bet the business provides the service to a few dozen people at most before backing out & not honoring voucher holders OR just go out of business.

Stay far far away.

I googled the company and most the search results on the first few pages were mostly other deal sites selling vouches for the same deal. That's usually a big warning sign for me.

I buy a lot of these type of spa deals for myself. The majority of the time they're okay but nothing to write home about, sometimes they are rather disappointing, and occasionally they are better than expected. My usual attitude going in is to have low expectations and figure that I'll probably get an acceptable or better result from at least one or two of the services (which makes it worth the price of the voucher), and I prepare myself just in case I have less than exceptional service because I'm a voucher customer...So if that's all I get I'm not too disappointed, and if it turns out better I am pleasantly suprised. I find this a workable method for buying vouchers for myself when I'm not familiar with the business...but for your wife's birthday? Perhaps I'd aim a little higher. ;)

2 and a half hours for $59, ouch. They have left probably 50% of that amount so they get $29.5 for 2.5 hours of work. So even if they pay the poor girl/guy minimum wage of $12 an hour, it's going to cost them $30 just to cover the cost of the employees.
Let's say they can do 6 of these per day at 6 days a week. But of course they have 2 locations so multiply by 2 so they can treat 72 people per week. At their current selling rate they are probably going to sell 1500 coupons which will take them 21 weeks to honour all of them. So if they close shop for the next 6 months maybe everyone will get what they paid for.
6 months of work for no money, where they are going to lose alot of money because there are other expenses other than employees.
If i assume that employee cost is only 50% of the total cost (which is a pretty conservative figure) then they are looking at losing $45,000 on this deal.

This isn't a spa.
It's a fly by night Asian operation where they give you terrible service. Don't do it!
