I've never had an accident (16 years insured) but recently hit a family members vehicle in our driveway while in a rush. I have Belair crash proof insurance so first at fault is covered. Estimate to repair my car is $225 (tail light) other vehicle is $3300 to 4000 as it is a luxury vehicle. Does anyone have experience with the cash proof policy? Will my rates go up at renewal even with this coverage? Any help would be great.

Your rate is safe.... as long as you stick with Belair when renewal comes.
If you switch to another insurer, then your rate will go up.

rates are NOT protected, only the rating will be. If a company has a general rate increase, you will see that reflected in the renewal but not see the rating you have affected.

Had to use my crash proof wavier last year. Car was totalled, and insurance paid 8k - deductible for my car. On renewal, they mailed me a form to complete to "truthly" declare what accidents I had in the past, and what tickets. Signed it off, and they increased my rates by 600$ (due to 2 tickets that was not on prior to the accident). On the 2nd year, one ticket dropped, and my rate dropped by $600..
I would say it didn't go up because of the accident, but because of my tickets.
I did try and shop around, and at the end the crashproof policy on stays if you stay with the same insurance company for 6 years. Others won't honour it.
