Hey
I recently had a horrible experience with Telehop. Their Voip stopped working and the tech reps were useless. Everytime I called in, there reps would ask me the same questions that I have answered multiple times, they said someone will call me back shortly but no one did. I am left stranded with no phone service at the moment.
So now I have decided that I will go with a legit land line. I am looking at my options. I was thinking weather i should go with Bell or weather Rogers will be better?
Please suggest with an open heart. Also: if you know any other company with better rates and quality, let me know too! :D
Thank you.

Rogers cheapest home phone plan is $30 IIRC, and I think there's a promo for $15 off per month for the first year. I'm pretty sure you need to do contract with them though and in the long run, the promo won't really save you anything.
I think Teksavvy would be the better option, ~$22/mo plus $3 for CallerID + extra for any add-on features.
I've been with TSI home phone for just over 3 years and have not experienced a single issue, even when DSL internet acts up (which is pretty rare). Bell's prices seem to be competitive with TSI but a couple of $$ more expensive. But if Bell is a company that gives you peace of mind, you may want to go that route. Check out TSI though, it hasn't been anything short of 100% reliable for me. They use Bell networks.

Hi
I did call Techsavvy and they said that they dont cover my area for home phone land line. I am not sure what TSI is all about, could you expand on it?
Well I dont know. Rogers does look tempting but I really don't want to make another mistake and end up with a contract and get crappy service. I want to make the right decision.

That's a shame, I figured Teksavvy would have Scarborough covered by now. Sorry I've been calling Teksavvy by the acronym TSI (Teksavvy Solutions Inc).
There are a few other no-contract landline providers, maybe someone else has suggestions.. I try not to suggest services I've never used. =[
Did you call Bell/Rogers and ask about no-contract landlines? You'd probably lose out on promotions if they offered no-contract services though.. if they do, Bell seems to be the cheaper more fairly priced option.

Yes. This whole time. I am thinking of Bell. However, there are people out there who had bad experiences with them and told me their horror stories...So I feel like both Rogers and Bell have equally crappy service in certain issues.
I still want to shop around. So there is no other land line service around scarborough?

Tek > Rogers > Bell
If you are reduced to Bell, you might as well cut yourself off from all outside contact and become a monk. Rogers is over-priced, but nothing is worse than Bell.

Well you're not on contract, try it out for a month or two. Just hope they don't charge you for flicking an on/off switch. $99 a hit, but I got lucky and wasn't charged eventhough I subverted Bell for Teksavvy.

Just a heads up - If you are going for Teksavvy's cable-based offerings, you will be at the mercy of Rogers. Look up all the threads where rogers has cut people's lines because they were not rogers customers, or the slow response time and stonewalling rogers tends to do when teksavvy opens a support ticket

Key word here is LAND LINE
Bell is your only option.
Rogers home phone is not a true land line service.
Why do you need a land line? Don't you have a cell phone?
Just add unlimited incoming calling.

Every company has a horror story.
I've been with Bell landline and DSL for about 10 years now.
Landline never had an issue, while my DSL will crap out occasionally, but doesn't happen often.
My mobile phone is through Rogers (company phone) and I sometimes lose reception in a wide open space outdoor area.
I don't know about Rogers landline service...

One is pretty much as bad as the other. I'd rather avoid them both at all costs if possible

Should've looked at this thread before. I got hooked up with Rogers this morning. Partly because they are giving 6 months off. I am stuck with a one year term, though...I hope I did the right thing...
