The BBC has learned that a patient has been diagnosed with cholera in the Cuban capital, Havana, days after three people died in a rare outbreak in the south-eastern town of Manzanillo. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-18758325)
Was planning to go to Cayo Coco next month :cry:

The article says people got ill after consuming water from contaminated wells. I realllly doubt the big resorts use well water.
Get your Dukoral vaccine; it protects against ETEC and Cholera. Of course no vaccine is 100% effective but it'll give you some protection.

Many people are careless. IMO, always boil the water first for consumption in third world country/place or in any questionable environment.

If staying in an all-incusive, how would you boil the water before consmption?? Also, how would you ensure the water your food is prepared with is boiled?
The main point is that all-inclusives are not using untreated well water.

Easy, drink lots of alcohol. Nobody died of cholera while drinking Rum and Cola.
