The house we bought has a plain solid door, no glass.

Down the road we plan on replacing it with something with glass but that is down the list of renos at the moment.

We're going to be replacing the hardware with a new schlage handle set and was thinking of installing a nice door knocker just for the visual appearance not functionality (we have a door bell).

Need something in that "aged bronze" finish as that's the handle set we're going to go with. (this is all I could find (http://www.homedepot.ca/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/SearchView?catalogId=10051&storeId=10051&langId=-15&N=0&Ntt=knocker&Nty=1&D=knocker&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Dx=mode+matchallpartial&s=true) at home depot)

any ideas?

Gingers is Elte's bath division.

+1 for Gingers, they have a fantastic selection, though can be pricey.

Another suggestion is to check our some antique stores. We shopped around for a knocker to match our new handleset for a while, and couldn't find anything we liked or found it to be outrageously expensive. We ended up buying a unique, black cast iron door knocker from an antique store for $50 and it looks amazing.

I keep thinking of Gene Wilder and Marty Feldman in Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein when you're looking for a door knocker.
