View Full Version : Virtual Visa Debit

I recently bought a media player and received a virtual visa debit number for $20. I thought I'd buy Star Wars Force Unleashed 2 (xbox), since that's about $20 and I wanted to play along with a friend. But everywhere I check, I can't use this payment option.

It has to be used online, and FS, BB wont accept visa debit.
Dell and london drugs don't have the game.
Walmart canada only has the ps3 version online.
EB games (http://www.ebgames.ca/xbox-360/games/star-wars-the-force-unleashed-ii/254072), looks like it's $20 for a preowned version.
you can't seem to buy gift cards online either.
Not only that, if the amount ends up being over $20 after tax, I would need a site that allows multiple payments (credit card and virtual visa)

any ideas on how I could achieve this, or advice on where you have used a virtual visa debit? So much effort for a regular priced game that's rated mediocre at best.

-Thanks.

Futureshop allows for splitting payment in-store. Visa debit works as if it were a regular visa. Try it out.

there are 2 visa debits tho, 1 is for online only i think. I think futurshop requires the one that is tied to a physical card

Yes, this is only a picture of a card they sent me in an email. No pin, no magnetic strip, no chip. So it can only be used "at online merchants or telephone/mail order merchants that accept Visa Debit"

Oh you don't actually have the physical card? You could cash it into PayPal or something I guess. You could even convert it into real cash if you had a payment processor (fees apply).

Futureshop could manually apply the charge to your card. They are not forced to swipe it in for you but you may need a manager though. Also, if it doesn't go through, try a value below $20 like $18 because transaction fees may possibly block you from using the full $20.

I got one of these from a rebate too and they are absolutely impossible to use. virtually no retailer accepts them and those that do like amazon do not have the functionality in their system to supprt it. if you have a 10 or 20 dollar vv card you will need to artificially lower your purchase amount to something below that as they do not support debit amounts of secondary methods of payment. that means you will either pay shipping or not buy from them and so far I have found it cheaper not to use the card as I would be losing more money that way. plus you will always have a remainder on the vv which is likely the entire purpose of this online scam detail.

Haha, yeah. This is the last time I go for a rebate that supplies the cash back via visa virtual debit. I now have 1 month to find a use for this before it expires.

I stand corrected. I may have found a practical use for it after all. I made a payment for the full VVD amount to my Shaw account online. It looks like it went through, and gave me a verification number

Great news.
