Hey guys geeks and gals,
Looking for some feedback.
I have aquired a mack daddy Gigabyte P67A-UD7-B3 motherboard (NF200 chip, support pcie3.0, 24 phaze and IB support)
I am considering either of the 2 chips the 3570 new on pm is same as a used 2700K i have access to.
I have been reading alot to get up to speed as I am coming from AMD using a CHIV and 1090T, I would not be making this switch but my CHIV board has taken a crap and needs RMA so I am gonna try Intel for a bit.
I will be using CS 5.5 Sony Vegas and also be doing some gaming. the 3570 gives me HD4000 so better graphics , pcie3.0 support , the 2700k more overclocking headroom and HT. For essentially the same cost which am I better off to go with, newer? I will be happy w a 4.5 overclock as i know the board has run a 2600K at 5.2. I am also aware that 3570 once pushed put out more heat and do not overclock as far as the 2700K and at stock clocks the 2700K is equal or a tad faster?
Is newer better?

You won't be getting good overclocks if that is your main goal on the new i5. The i7 2700k is 4 cores with HT so you get essentially 4 real cores and 4 virtual cores. Here is a comparison between the 2: http://ark.intel.com/compare/61275,65520
I would take the i7 and just get a cheapie vid card to make up for the lousy integrated card.

I think that the i7 has the Intel HD 4000 which isn't that bad...does light gaming to my understanding. AMD's have better integrated video typically.

i believe it is the other way round with the 2700 having the 3000 graphics and the 3750 the 4000, I am not too worried about that as I am using a 6950 2gb but I am getting various feedback and looking more so from those that own either of the 2 or those who may have used both. At this point i am leaning towards the 2700K but the 3570K clocks decent just not as high but offers a couple newer features

I would look for a used 2600k with an after market cooler. I dont think the 2700k is worth the 100mhz + cash.
Since you are using a P67 board i dont think Intel Quick Sync Tech is enabled meaning the graphics core on the CPU is pretty much useless.

looking at this review and taking higher end overclocking out of the equation the 3570K seems pretty decent, the 2700k performs better in some tests but it is not the end of the world. i do plan to use Adobe CS 5.5 and I see that in that use the 2700K edges the 3570k but i assume an overclock aids either cpu in task completion

thanks Dave, I actually had seen that one earlier today, anyways I decided to save some cash and went with 3570K for $175, great deal locally

you are on P67 chipset why would you get IB?????
It is true that IB can be supported on P67/Z68/Z77 or any 1155 board with BIOS upgrade (if manufacturer provides)
but the best part of IB is the (PCIe) 3.0 and DDR3L (low-voltage) memory, buffed-up security features, and better integrated graphics
P67 does not support integrated graphic such as Intel HD 3000, it only supports SLI / CrossFire
and worst if you have multiple monitors, P67 doesn't even support quicksync.
If you are getting 3570K, you will need a new mobo to take advantage of it's full capability.
I hope you haven't purchase 3570K, and if you already did you have to either hope Gigabyte has BIOS update for your board to support IB that you need to first boot with SB to flash your BIOS
or return the CPU or purchase new board

For the price that you would pay to buy a 3570 you could instead buy a video card that would make the 4000HD feel like garbage. Or stick with the video card I just noticed you already have thats far superior to the 4000HD.
In my personal opinion its not worth the switch, save that money for an upgrade in 1 or 2 years.
