Looks like if one drives by you, you may hear some Sweet Emotion along with the TURBOS.

a shelby to claim fastest car in the world?..
Veyron Super Sport with its 431.072 km/h (267.856 mph) top speed is still the fastest fastest road car in production. American auto engineering is still behind european engineering

Shelby has nothing to do with the Hennessy. It very well may be faster than the Veyron, it weighs almost 2000lbs less and had more power.

OP's post is cryptic, so how does the american v8 + shelby pic + Hennessy relate to each other?

Americans need to realize, the world is not a straight line. There are something called corners, and cars must go round them. A fast car must not only go fast in a straight line, but also go round corners.

what do you drive? a corolla?

this car is not meant to go around corners (neither is the Veyron)
it's meant to kick ***** in a straight line - which it does well.

If you want to go around corners well buy an American Corvette which will hold it with the best of them.

They Bugatti is also 2 million dollars and maybe does not qualify as a road car since they sell like 80 of them a year.

Very nice! Thanks for the post!

I always love to read about new production of Mustangs. The 2013 Shelby GT looks like a great addition to the line of Fords with peak performance!

The modification in the splitter and front fascia is a nice addition to this model. This model also provides an increase in fuel efficiency which is nice when the price of gas is increasing.

A million dollars?

Pass.

You can probably get an R32 Skyline GT-R or Supra to do over 200mph for less than $100K.

WTH? The Shelby reference was only to V8 power, the fastest car in the World reference was to the new Venom GT.

Clearly you are lost, have you not seen skid pad numbers of the new BOSS 302 or Shelby GT500, recent World Sportscar Series Results, the ZR1, The FORD GT, Nürburgring track time records? (Cadillacs and Vipers are on there) Ring Lap Records: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Nürburgring_Nordschleife_lap_times

Carry on...

They relate to show American dominance is continuing in "affordable" high performance and may be starting in the Supercar realm.

You won't be going 200mph in a Supra for 100K, LOL

Trust me, I owned one a long time ago. (A wing delete 94 TT.)

for tunned production cars it is the fastest. for production, still the veyron SS
and for the shelby. only the price is worth noting

Total agree in regard to the Veyron as for the Shelby comment not sure where you're going with that, I've never been passed in mine by the few that try, LOL...

The other issue is the Hennessy reliability, which hasn't exactly been stellar and 1 million plus for a car (Venom GT) with minimal cache and brand recognition is a stretch. IMO

Show me a supra and r32 skyline that does 200mph. I already know u redlining at 6th gear in either car wont be close to 200mph.

300km/h in 5th and still 1 gear to go.

6th is usually an overdrive gear to meet fuel consumption regulations, top speed in many cars is often in achieved one gear below the top gear.

Speedometer error is also rampant at these speeds.

Further, 300KM is only 186MPH a long way away from the magic 200MPH

The reality is few people on earth have EVER gone 200mph

My friend Van in the vid here is one of them and he did it in 1 MILE!

As I understand, these cars all use the stock gearbox. The combination of a much taller rear tire as well as built motors able to rev much higher (9000+ rpm) will get them to 250+ mph with the factory ratios.

Lots of $ in these cars though for sure though....well over 100k I would imagine.

Back to the topic at hand though, the Venom GT looks like quite the car though 1 million is a pretty steep asking price. The GT500 has a huge amount of potential - I'm sure we will start seeing them in the 4 digit hp range very shortly (and for a reasonable cost as well)
