View Full Version : Inexpensive Ream of 100% Recycled Paper

I'm looking for reams of 100% recycled paper that doesn't cost twice as much as non-recycled paper -- yes, Staples, I'm talking to you. We got about six reams for free a few years ago when Staples was giving away reams in exchange for old printer cartridges. We got a bunch after going to one of those cartridge recycling places and begging them to give us some empty cartridges. Staples doesn't do that anymore, unfortunately. And they charge *way* too much for recycled paper. Probably still trying to recoup the cost of what they gave away a few years prior.

So I'm looking to spend about $4 for a ream. Like I would at Wal-Mart for non-recycled paper. What's up with that anyway? "Well, this paper is from used material, not new, so let's charge twice as much for it. And if it's only 30% used it should cost less that 100% used." It used to be that way with recycled toilet paper too. Anyway, I digress...

Anyone who knows of anywhere online perhaps where this is possible, could you please reply? I think it would cost to import it from the States, so there's no point in going with U.S. etailers. Any help would be appreciated.

Is there any reason you'd want 100% recycled paper? Why not FSC paper? FSC paper is usually around the same price as regular paper and it's made only from trees in forests certified for renewability and sutainability.

Honestly -- and no offence meant, this is just my opinion -- the idea of purposely growing new trees just to cut them down when there's plenty of recycled paper available for use all over the place is simply ridiculously wasteful. I'm more of the "reuse" type of person where at all possible. And 100% recycled paper is as close to "reuse" as you can get in this area.

Costco has a multipack of recycled paper. Can't remember the price off hand but it was cheap
