So just about ever video card being sold nowadays comes with a "free gift" game valued at "$50". I'm seeing reports that when people attempt to return video cards for a refund, they get docked $50 for these free games, even if they didn't request them or download the games.

It appears to me to be a manufacturers "scam" to insure you never return their defective cards. How do you guys see it?

Should probably move this to the C&E forum since really only hardcore people have desktop computers anymore. You're not going to see many replys in here.

I think its more of a shopping discussion. And how do you play games with a laptop?

Simple. Don't buy at a retailer that has reports of 'docking' $xx upon the return.

And gaming isn't impossible with a laptop, just expensive.

Good point. I know Newegg does, but does NCIX or Canada Computers?

Good info to have. I had no idea they'd do this!
