hello,
is there anyway for a pc to drive this monitor (http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-CA/product/apple-apple-27-thunderbolt-display-monitor-mc914ll-a-mc914ll-a/10181142.aspx?path=178df8013d563846335a53fc7fd80bc een02)?
computer is question will have gtx 670/680
on hardforum they have a .net port of the software that appears to take care of the brightness control. however i am curious what type of setups can actually drive this on a pc.

You can buy z77 boards which have a thunderbolt port on them. Then again i don't think its worth the premium just buy a Korean 120Hz or 27in dell

i will look into the z77 board. as previously mentioned due to low price i am able to get the apple for is why i am interested. i am well aware of the alternatives and if it wasnt a good price i would most likely be getting the 27" off ebay

Most new high end ati cards have 1 or two display ports now. Might want to look into it.

get an adapterAFAIK, mini display ports won't work with the Thunderbolt display. Even my 2010 MBP wouldn't work with it.

correct; just tested to confirm
mini displayport (amd hd 7770) to apple thunderbolt display does not work.
only other option seems to be z77 with lucidlogix; however i dont have any easy way of testing this. dont need a new systemboard especially if it doesnt work.

I wouldn't bother OP. If it doesn't guarantee it works, it's a waste of money. I say if you got a deal with a 27" thunderbolt, you can just as well run it as a secondary apple computer (refurbished or something) for media type things. Then buy another Dell for your main computer to play games on.
