It's pretty rare to see amazing deals to Finland!

The cheap prices look to be mostly focused on September and October.

Here's how to find them...

1. Go to http://www.vayama.ca

2. Search for a Sunday to Sunday flight from Toronto to Helsinki, Finland in September or October.

For example, October 7 to 21, or October 14 to 28. (September dates look to be slightly higher)

3. Hit Search

Agreed! Though, from Finland, you can take a ferry over to Stockholm for quite cheap and there's plenty to do in Stockholm! ;)

According to a Maxim article I read; Finland has the most natural blondes per capita (or something like that).

I'm sure you could find plenty to do in Finland.

From Finland, you can head north to Arctic circle and visit Santa's post office and as said Russia and other Scandinavian countries would be great, along with that, if you can get a long UK transit that would be wonderful too.

Cruise to Stockholm, take a train( or cruise but the train just takes 3.5 hours ) to St.Petersburg, Angry Bird Theme Park( been there in June - the Angry Bird section is not big but still it was fun for the kids )

Amazing deal.

Stopped over in Helsinki on my way to Thailand last year.
The city itself is pretty small so a few days is enough, make sure to hit up a sauna and the island fortress though!

It has plenty of transportation options to other Scandinavian cities as well as elsewhere in europe for cheap so this could be a great way of getting to and back from Europe cheaply if you're doing a Eurotrip!

Great price, but visiting the Scandic countries in October (or later) is an awful idea - you get about 6-8 hours of sunlight (if you're lucky), and the temps rarely crack +8-10.
However, it's good for a launch point to other locations I suppose....although any of the nearby countries which would be cheap to hop over to also suffer from the same cool temps and darkness.

Finland, Finland, Finland
The country where I want to be
Pony trekking or camping
Or just watching TV
Finland, Finland, Finland
It's the country for me

You're so near to Russia
So far from Japan
Quite a long way from Cairo
Lots of miles from Vietnam

Finland, Finland, Finland
The country where I want to be
Eating breakfast or dinner
Or snack lunch in the hall
Finland, Finland, Finland
Finland has it all

You're so sadly neglected
And often ignored
A poor second to Belgium
When going abroad

Finland, Finland, Finland
The country where I quite want to be
Your mountains so lofty
Your treetops so tall
Finland, Finland, Finland
Finland has it all

Oh focus on Finland friends

Finland, Finland, Finland
The country where I quite want to be
Your mountains so lofty
Your treetops so tall
Finland, Finland, Finland
Finland has it all, Finland has it all

UK departure taxes are a killer. Try leaving Europe from a non-UK airport to save some $$$...

I've been to finland a few times since I have friends there. Its got its charm and yes lots of blondes.

Tallin Estonia, which has one of the best preserved medevil old town is a few hours away from Helsinki. Also St. Petersburg is a few hours away, which is also stunning (from what I heard).

There is a new rule that passengers of cruise ships that dock in russia do not need a visa or invite (these are costly and annoying to obtain) for stays less than 72hours.

Finnish love drinking, so if that's your scene you will be in good company. If you like to party take the nightboat to stockholm, many finnish take the boat without even disembarking in sweden to take advantage of duty free booze.

Keep in mind if your planning to rent a car gas was 2 euro 50 when I was there a few years back.

I was there when its 22 hours of sunshine... Pretty crazy to go into a bar at dusk and leave at sunrise and its only been a couple hours!

Hot deal, and almost everyone speaks english in finland.

The amount of blondes in Helsinki is insane. I have done the YYZ-LHR-HEL flights with a layover in London. At this price, it's an amazing deal although you would definitely have to either look at going to Sweden or the interior of Finland i.e do something other than Helsinki. Helsinki is a beautiful city, no highrises but not a ton to see.

I did the Stockholm, Helsinki, St. Petes and Tallin. I really enjoyed all four places. Tons to do, good people, lots of english except for Russia. Visa's were a pain in the ***** , but sounds like they have opened things up since I was there.

This deal is insane! Almost as if they forgot about the fuel surcharge. How can this travel agency offer this for so much less than everybody else? Anybody ever deal with vayama.ca before?

June 21st is obviously the best time to be up there. But you'll never see $451 from Toronto again. And October isn't January. By the way, much of the area is on Google Street View.

I highly recommend Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. Too bad Belarus and Russia have annoying and expensive visa requirements.

"Security authorities may place foreigners under surveillance. Hotel rooms, telephones, fax machines, and e-mail messages may be monitored. Personal possessions in hotel rooms may be searched" (Canadian travel warning for Belarus)

Finland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Sweeden and Norway are part of the

Schengen Area

The member states of the European Union (EU) (not including Bulgaria, Cyprus, Ireland, Romania, and the United Kingdom), along with Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Switzerland (which are not in the EU), make up the Schengen Area, which has common rules regarding visas and controls at external borders. The following 26 countries comprise the Schengen Area: Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

In the Schengen Area, Canadian travellers do not need visas for short-term visits (up to 90 days within a six-month period). The 90 days are cumulative and apply to travel within all countries of the Schengen Area. After 90 days of continuous stay in the Schengen Area, Canadians must leave for another 90 days before they can re-enter. Some countries require you to register with local authorities within three working days of your arrival. It is important to get your passport stamped when entering the Schengen Area. The absence of an entry stamp from the initial Schengen port of entry could create difficulties during subsequent encounters with local police or other authorities throughout the Schengen Area.

If Canadians overstay the permitted 90 days in the Schengen Area, they may be fined, deported or banned.

Since the Grand Tour (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grand_Tour) is no longer an option, you will have to take advantage of deals like this to see all of Europe.

Vayama is pretty big. Wouldn't be afraid to book with them. Every travel company in the world has terrible reviews, since anything that can go wrong during the entire travel process is usually blamed on where it was booked.

If one judged it purely on the reviews, nobody would ever book with Expedia either...

http://www.trustpilot.com/review/www.expedia.com

I'd trust most anyone that Kayak sends traffic to, except perhaps Airfare.com - their booking technology is outdated.

"Vayama should NOT offer flights that require customers to go through customs in countries that they don't plan on visiting."

LOL. I recommend reading Yelp reviews if in need of a laugh. By the way, American and Canadian airports don't have international transit zones. Although apparently London Heathrow does.

So I just got this email from Vayama:

We recently received your online booking request. Quality control has determined that your booking could not be processed at the fare that was originally quoted. Unfortunately, the airline was unable to accept the fare that was quoted earlier and as a result, your reservation has been canceled. Per our terms and conditions, airfares and reservations are not guaranteed until tickets are issued.

We encourage you to select another option that meets your travel needs. If you have any questions please feel free to respond to this email and we will get back to you generally within 24 hours.

Damn it, that's not a good thing to hear. In the U.S. they have some new regulations to protect against this sort of thing, and you can file a complaint against the booking agency and airline to have your booking honored.

I'm not sure if it would apply here, since the flight was originating from Canada, but Vayama is an American company, so it could be worth a shot. A ticket # would have needed to be issued though, I'm assuming nobody received one?

The Department of Transportation (DOT) complaint form is:

Some people are noticing that these prices to Finland are still showing on certain travel sites.

On CheapoAir.com for example, October 19 to 25 is $397 roundtrip after taxes, and if you use promo code NY15 it brings it down to $377.

They're likely using a similar data source, and there's a good chance the booking wouldn't go through with the airline, like with Vayama, but could be worth a shot.

Webjet.ca is another one showing the sub $400 prices.
